Marvel vs Capcom 2 confirmed for XBLA

An Xbox Live Arcade version of Marvel vs Capcom 2 is looking more likely today as an achievement list has leaked online for the game, reports GamerByte. There still hasn't been any official announcement from Capcom themselves, however this news along with the already existing ESRB entry all but confirm the game will be launching soon.

European e-tailer ShopTo also listed tournament fight sticks to preorder on their website yesterday, however they have since been removed, possibly at the request of Capcom.

Capcom are set to announce two titles at their upcoming Captivate 2009 event, presumably the other game will be the Playstation 3 version for PSN. The publisher/developer expressed interest in releasing more of their classic fighters and rebooting some fan favourites on both services earlier this year. The news came after the success of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix which was released on the lead up to the launch of Street Fighter IV in February.

Today they also confirmed the Championship Mode for Street Fighter IV via the company's blog, which will be released on April 24th for free.

"The tournaments offer a new take on classic SFIV competition. They are broken out into 5 different levels, which means everyone can participate and find a good challenge without getting blown out of the water or bored. You score Grade Points (GP) for tournament wins, and as your GP total grows, you'll become eligible to enter into more exclusive tournaments. Winning tournaments will also net you Championship Points (CP). The CP work basically like "prize money" up for grabs in the tournament. The higher the GP skill of the players in a particular tournament, the bigger the CP prize!"
