Microsoft and Southwest teaming up for free holiday photos

It's nearly the holiday season and Microsoft and Southwest Airlines are teaming up to offer free Santa/holiday photos at 21 airports and 3 malls nationwide. The photos will be available at the Southwest Airline gates on December 13 and also at the Chicago Northbridge mall on November 19th, the Los Angeles Century City mall on November 23rd and the San Francisco Center mall on November 25.

The following airports will be participating in the offer:

To find out more about the offer you can visit www.freeholidayphotos.com. While the offer is quite restrictive in that you must either be traveling on that particular day or be in one of the three malls, it's still a free way to get a holiday photo.

With the holiday shopping season right around the corner, it is expected that many retailers will be bringing out the bargains in the annual post Thanksgiving shopping fest that is known as Black Friday. With deals about to be announced, is there anything in particular that you are looking for?

Microsoft and Southwest did this same kind of thing last year. I was flying through Houston (HOU, not IAH) but didn't get a chance to see where they had things set up.

The fine print probably states it only applies for anyone stuck sitting on the tarmac for 3+ hours....but still, that probably covers a lot of people.

Pointless like your comment? Im sure a lot of people will like that, especially the kids.

No, it isn't going to be terribly meaningful. It isn't going to cure cancer. It isn't the next greatest OS. I doubt anyone is going to go out of their way to show up at one of these.

Still, for people who are traveling with small children, it might be a nice fun distraction from the stress, so why rain on their parade?

Thousands of people pass through these airports and malls on a daily basis. This will be by no means small scale. They're going to be to be in airports from the 13th through the 24th of December and an entire month at the selected malls. It appears they will be providing the Santa experience at these malls. This will be a great idea for strengthening the Microsoft brand.

They should have some Windows Phones and Xbox/Kinects on display nearby for people to play with.
