Microsoft begins Xbox 360 downloadable Black Friday game sales today

While you may still be hoping to get an Xbox One on Black Friday (maybe), Microsoft is not forgetting about its 80 million Xbox 360 owners. No, you were right to trade it. So you could buy the GOTYE which includes Undead Nightmare

But is the version which is 75% off going to be the GOTY edition?

He said he traded the games in, not the console.
Regardless, it'll be soon for Microsoft to turn off the download servers for 360 games to get people to switch to the xbox one. Just as soon as they fix that drive problem and ramp up production.

Why would he sell them for less then what he is going to be paying for them when he buys them again? since the games are stuck on the 360 and the One doesn't support 360 I think he mis-understood something.

The support for the 360 isn't going any where, any time soon. Microsoft is known to support outdated products & servicing long after the next release (the first xbox for example) Plus why would they voluteeringly lose all the 360 customer's? There is way more money spent through the 360 than the One. Logic is actually important. ok.

Yes it is.
I would happily pay more than the trade-in value to not have to get off my lazy ass and swap discs.

It's the reason they were on the shelf in the first place.
I still have the console, and unless MS offer media browsing from the xbox one, I will keep it as long as it runs.

ohhh. pay more for for convenience. I getcha. I am the opposite. I am always worried about buying all these digital games and they go poof! like some of the stories I have heard.

It does happen. It happened to me.

I had several 'xbox' branded Windows Phone games. Microsoft simply delisted them. Those games are gone. I expect they'd have no problems shutting down any other games, even on the xbox 360.

I don't know, I believe that happened to you but It feels almost like a conspiracy theory. Microsoft said they wouldn't do that to the Xbox One users but who knows... Digital downloads aren't a safe investment or as safe as disc's. Digital downloads are nice but many people are not ready for them yet. Sorry you lost your games....

Certainly not a conspiracy theory.

Microsoft have also removed xbox branding from games in the past, such as Angry Birds, to make way for a 'free' unbranded version for WP7.x users while WP8 get a xbox branded version. Again, delisted for those that have paid for it.
While the games do stay on the device, they can't reinstall them. The games that get re-published by the developers as non-xbox branded games, have to be re-purchased again if they're not free.. and that's if the developer is allowed to re-publish.. or indeed can.

However, gamers who keep their delisted games for achievement sake (it's why most people pay a premium for xbox branded games on Windows Phone), once licenses run out for the games, they can't even be used to gain achievements on Microsoft's servers.

I know this is a case of oh well you're a old windows 7.x user, but the fact is the devices services (Zune service is gone too btw - http://www.neowin.net/news/mic...ne-7-zune-software--devices ) are being abandoned on the platform and it's not even as old as the xbox 360.

I'm a big fan of Microsoft and most of the services, hardware and products in general that they provide, but it does feel like a bit of a kick in the teeth when I was one of the early adopters supporting their 'next gen' mobile platform that they needed to build.
I don't expect Microsoft to be anymore forgiving on xbox 360 users in anyway.

Sure you might say there are more people who'd be outraged, but that hasn't stopped them killing off games for windows services in a few months ( http://www.tomshardware.com/ne...ive-closing-down,23946.html ) either... but they already messed that up with lack of support anyway so we'll let them off for that one right.

I think i am going to grab Skryim since i own it on pc and could not get into it. I had not trouble with Oblivion on the xbox.

That didn't take long for me. Just bought The Cave and Fallout 3 (for $10...). Might get Tomb Raider as well. Then looking at possibly Diablo 3, BattleBlock Theater, and LA Noire...

Meanwhile on steam, those of us with a pc will soon get discounts on just about any game we may want on the service, rather than just a handful.

Cant help but feel bad for those with only a console to game on.
