Microsoft erecting massive tent for BUILD 2012 conference

Microsoft has been pretty silent about its plans for the 2012 edition of its BUILD developers conference since it was officially announced in July. The event, which sold out about an hour after registration started in August, will be held at Microsoft's worldwide headquarters in Redmond, Washington from October 30 to November 2nd.

Even though the event is over a week away, Microsoft has already been busy preparing for BUILD 2012. Geekwire.com reports that the company is in the middle of putting up a massive tent on its campus that's designed to hold 2,000 people for the event.

When finished, the tent will be one of the largest in North America, three stories high and covering an area equal to about 12 NBA basketball courts. Normally, Microsoft holds events like this outside its campus, but Microsoft’s Tim O’Brien, the general manager of its Developer & Platform Evangelism, says that for BUILD 2012, "We’re a Seattle company, and we’re proud of the work we do here, and the campus experience is something that we want to show off to Build attendees."

Neowin.net will be attending BUILD 2012 and will be reporting on the events inside that giant tent, which will start to come down on November 1st. Microsoft also plans to stream events from BUILD 2012 online on its Channel 9 developer site.
