Microsoft releases new Xbox One commercials showcasing critic praise, 'Ryse'

Microsoft has released two new commercials for its recently released Xbox One console, one showcasing a positive response from critics and the other promoting "Ryse: Son of Rome."

The first video, seen above, is actually an edit of the first commercial for Xbox One, "Invitation," which was released on Oct. 25. That commercial showcased several of the big-name games for the console with live-action characters inviting people to play their respective games. The "Said it Best" spot uses that footage spliced with critical praise as well as a tweet from a fan.

Microsoft's second new Xbox One commercial, seen below, is called "Immersive Gaming" and touts the graphical prowess of the Crytek-developed exclusive game "Ryse: Son of Rome." The game is easily the best-looking title currently available on the new console, though the aggregate critical response is fairly mediocre, receiving mixed reviews on Metacritic.

A week ago, Microsoft announced it surpassed 3 million Xbox One consoles sold as of Dec. 31, though specific December sales figures for the U.S. should be released from the NPD Group sometime soon. Most major online retailers have seen replenished stock of the console since the holidays, but Microsoft has said it's quickly selling out of all the consoles it's shipping.

Graphically it is the best game I have seen on any platform, including the PC. Also a very fun game to play. I have beaten it twice and plan to play through it again over spring break. It takes immersive storytelling to new levels, but I do wish the actual storytelling was better. Many emotional elements were glossed over in order to jump to more action oriented elements. Regardless, Ryse and Forza 5 are so far the only games I have seen that feel next generation to me.

That's Crytek in a nutshell for you. Tis why many say graphics aren't everything.

I like Ryse. Reviewers may have been harsh but it has a lot of potential. And lets face the fact that launch titles need to be taken with a lot of diminished expectations given they are working with beta SDK's changing specs and crazy deadlines not set by the game developers but by the manufacturing and logics engineers at sony and Microsoft.

If Ryse 2 doesn't improve then that's another story.

Ryse is ALOT better than most reviewers gave it credit for. It was a victim of reviewers having to play a ton of launch games at one time and the bad E3 reveal it had. Reviewers didn't give it a chance and probably didn't even finish the game before reviewing it.

I'd easily give it an 8/10

The combat is not that repetitive and requires skill and thinking ahead so you properly allocate what skill points to use for whihc enemy.

The death animations are NOT QTE's, anyone that says that hasn't played the game and just likes to parrot meme's about the game.

The Graphics are amazing all the way through the game and the cut-scenes look exactly like the gameplay.

The Story, characters, voice acting and ending are VERY well done and VERY satisfying.

Yeah! Good emphasis on those crappy graphics! If developers weren't so lazy and just did PC first, we'd already have real life graphics! Crysis came out 7 years ago remember that. The only games that stepped up to the plate are Project Cars (PC of course) and Star Citizen at the moment.

"The Xbox One is the greatest thing that's ever happened to mankind."

That's just embarrassing. Also makes Microsoft look a bit silly in my opinion.

Yes, Microsoft should tell their fans to stop praising their products publicly...

A bit of humility goes a long way. Good tech? Sure. Best thing that ever happened to mankind? I think The wheel, the industrial revolution, the renaissance, Penicillin, Norman Borlaug, the Roman empire and the Apollo astronauts would dispute that.

Sure it does -- but instead of Neowin's typical kneejerk "derp Microsoft" response, a half second of actually looking would show that this comment was made by a fan, not Microsoft. Games, movies, etc are always quoting positive reviews in the ads, even if it sucked. But since it's Microsoft, yea, embarrassing and silly. If it were a Sony ad, people would be singing praises.

The original tweet was being tongue-in-cheek; I think Microsoft knew that. It's just a funny exaggeration, yet it gets the point across that the Twitter user really liked the console.

Basically, it was meant to be silly.

Yeah, I assumed that the original writer and Microsoft were not presenting the quote in earnest, but I still think it's over the top to point that it becomes slightly cringe-worthy.

lol, I like how you can't say anything in the slightest against Microsoft without being pro Sony and pro Apple.

Hmm, so you like that huh?

Was going to get Ryse, but heard it wasnt that good so was waiting for the price to drop.

I actually liked it quite a bit. It's a really fun game, but there are better options, such as "Dead Rising 3." I'd still recommend it, however.

Or you can always rent the game, see how it is personally, not worry about what others say and then you be the critic of your gaming medium.

I honestly don't even plan on getting the Xbox One til Halo 5 comes out. I'm still stuck in love with Gears of War 3 on the 360.

I still have all the GOW games. Love them and hope they plan a new on for the One. Cannot wait for Halo 5 to.

Gears 3 is still loads of fun. Really looking forward to Gears on Xbox One, as long as it isn't like Judgment.

I found it reasonably fun (and different), and the graphics are excellent. Kind of like Gladiator made into a game Ok, well, one chapter is a total rip-off of Gladiator, hehe.

People who say that it's stupidly easy haven't tried it on the hard setting. Some of the boss fights are challenging, without being impossible, at the hardest settings.

Epic's in an odd position right now, and the implications are there isn't a new entry in the franchise that's actively being made.

The stories built upon Gears of War make it too awkward to fit in another Gears of War. Although, what they need to do, is create an Unreal Tournament style Gears of War. Plain hardcore multiplayer.

Wishful thinking

That would be really awesome. Throw in some other game modes like Horde, Beast, Overrun, etc, and I could play that endlessly.
