Microsoft schedules Connect Profile changes on June 2

Microsoft has sent an e-mail to registered users on the Microsoft Connect Web site informing them of an update on Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 regarding their profile and personal information. All current and future profile information at profile.microsoft.com (Windows Live ID/.NET Passport) and connect.microsoft.com will be merged and be stored at profile.microsoft.com. After June 2nd, 2007, when you log in to Microsoft Connect, Microsoft will display a reminder message to update your profile information. The e-mail also noted "these important impacts of the update":

  1. The Microsoft Connect "alternate e-mail address" will be dropped from your profile and deleted from your record. This will affect very few users since this "alternate" has seldom been used by Microsoft Connect.
  2. Microsoft Connect and Microsoft newsletters will use only one e-mail address to communicate with you. If you have been using two different e-mail addresses for these communications, you will have a chance to decide which one to use moving forward. This e-mail address will be associated with the Windows Live ID/.NET Passport you use to access your profile.
