Microsoft shows off Xbox One Friends app in new video

With the Xbox One launch just a few weeks away, Microsoft is slowly but surely showing off more of what Microsoft's next generation console can do. Today, the company uploaded a video on YouTube that shows for the first time how the Friends app for Xbox One will work.

The app will, of course, display a list of all of a person's friends. Users can have up to 1,000 friends, but if someone has a long list to browse from, they can also pick some of their friends to be favorites so they don't have to go through the entire list. An Xbox One user can also have an infinite number of followers. The difference between a follower and a friend is that the person being followed has more control over what they show of their profile and activity online, while a friend basically exposes their entire Xbox One profile and activity.

The new user profile page for Xbox One has improved high resolution avatars, along with a list of game achievements, current and past activity and a person's online player reputation, which indicates if he or she will be a good or bad player to connect with in matches.

There's also an activity feed that's updated in real time that shows what a person's friends are doing, whether it is playing a game, watching a video and more. Overall it makes it easier for a person to jump into an online game with a party of friends.

whats with the boring metro interface again.. who told MS that it looks good? I want something new that stands out and makes me want to buy their new product!

Having someone seeing every single specific thing you are doing is ridiculous. We have enough invasion of privacy in life as it is.

They need to count XBOX Gold membership status by the time open, not the date last paid.

I was in Beta 2, cancelled it for a few months and now I'm back to it saying 1 year. Woo!

Maybe, but why would he include a 360 member in a Xbox One demo, considering Xbox One profiles has a different reputation system and features?

Seiously? 11 friends? How can this be his real account when he has 205 followers, considering followers are an unreleased feature? Hehe

11 friends that were online, not 11 friends.

Because they are testing it, and there's such a thing as testing groups?
