Microsoft updates DreamSpark with new apps

DownloadSquad is reporting Microsoft has updated their DreamSpark website and added applications that are now available for download. DreamSpark is a service Microsoft has provided for high school and university students to download and get access to development products for free.

For a full list of the software available with DreamSpark, check the support FAQ. In brief: Visual Studio 2010, Windows Phone, XNA Game Studio 3.1, SQL Server 2008, Expression Studio 3.0 and Windows Server 2003, and 2008.

There are limitations on some of the software that is available but it is a great way for a student to learn development on different devices and the licensing allows the students to make some money from their applications.

This has been out for a while, I got Expression Suite 3 off it last year.

DreamSpark has been around for years now, but the application list is updated. VS2010 wouldn't have been available last year.

Just notice VS Express 2010 is available now too. Yay! http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/

Any change of seeing VS2010 Ultimate there?
I doubt it, professional should be enough for most students who do not have access to MSDNAA which may offer higher editions.

My MSDAA only offers VS2010 Professional... which is a shame I guess, but hey it's still free so I'm cool with it

Not having Intellitrace kind of sucks.

Intellitrace is indeed very cool.
I just fixed a couple of bugs in a heavily threaded application with help from Intellitrace, which could not figure out earlier.

Hmm was hoping for office to be added to dreamspark but not much chance of that happening

Well, Office 2010 isn't even released yet as far as I can see.

Can students still get it cheap with the Ultimate Steal program?

Office isn't not going to be released free any time in the near future. The Its Not Cheating $75 is the student offer.
