Microsoft updates the Next Lock Screen with a new design

Microsoft has updated its Garage project Next Lock Screen to version 3.2.0. While the version number would indicate that this is a minor update, it's actually pretty significant.

It includes a new logo, for one thing. Alongside that are quite a few UI tweaks. Here's the change log:

  • New logo and color scheme. The new logo has a streamlined 'N', and expresses our identity as a location-based lock screen.

  • Notifications: optimized icons for smoother look, and better performance.

  • Launchpad: minor UI enhancements, added setting to hide contacts.

  • Screen time out: bug fixes.

  • Bing wallpaper: update check changed to once every hour.

If you're familiar with the application, you'll notice that there are UI tweaks all over the place.

The last major update that we saw for the app was back in February, when it finally included support for fingerprint readers, and then a more minor update in March, which improved that fingerprint reader support. This was an important feature for many, as just about every modern phone worth its salt has a fingerprint scanner.

In fact, if you're a Microsoft fan with an Android device, now might be the time to give the firm's Garage projects a try. Between the Next Lock Screen, Arrow Launcher, Hub Keyboard, and a possibly upcoming Word Flow keyboard, you can get a full Microsoft experience.

If you're looking to install the Next Lock Screen - or update your existing one - you can get it right here.
