Microsoft's new Sports Picks app for Xbox 360 launched

Microsoft has extended its Xbox 360 app library yet again with the launch of the new Sports Picks app. This new program for Xbox Live Gold subscribers is designed to let users predict and pick winners of upcoming college football and NBA games, along with UFC mixed martial arts matches.

The Major Nelson website states:

You can make picks, compete with your Xbox LIVE friends and fight for domination of the leaderboard. With the Sports Picks app, we’ve also added a new experience for Xbox SmartGlass, so you can do all of this on your tablet or phone without missing a beat of the game on your TV through Xbox 360.

In other words, this app gives owners a way to predict and pick the outcome of some pro and college sports events just like you were gambling, but without any actual money being traded between users. The only think you will get is a higher placement on the online leaderboard.

Microsoft also announced today that they have enabled Xbox SmartGlass support for the previously released ESPN and NBA Xbox 360 apps. Both allow users to access these apps remotely on a tablet or smartphone.
