I agree, this is a very good backup AV for PC technician. I find it very handy scanning virus and spyware. Although it doesn't clean 100%. But it still able to help you in most cases if the PC do not have any internet or free AV cant find any infections files.

This MWAV utility is actually very good if you need to scan a lot of different PC's for infections as a technician or PC engineer.

It doesn't need to be installed as such (it just unpacks into your %TEMP% folder and runs) so think of it as KAV 6.0 Portable and you will get the idea of how it works.

The scanning engine is very good and picks up most of the common viruses and spyware threats and removes them for you.

When used in conjunction with other resident antivirus software it would make a good second line of defence as a manual scanner.

AOL Active Virus Shield is based on the same KAV engine as MWAV, it's FREE and is a branded KAV 6.0 product.

There is no spyware or adware installed with it that I can find (don't install the toolbar, it does nothing very useful) and it does a better job on PC's with 512 MBytes RAM installed than AVG Free does and finding viruses.

Kind Regards

^^ There's nothing wrong with Active Virus Shield from AOL. I have installed and enjoyed AVS for about two weeks and i really like it, it's very low in resources and works flawlessly as the original Kasperky. No AOL spyware inside just remember to UNCHECK the AOL toolbar option when you install AVS for the first time.
