mIRC 7.25

mIRC is a full featured Internet Relay Chat client for Windows that can be used to communicate, share, play or work with others on IRC networks around the world, either in multi-user group conferences or in one-to-one private discussions.

It has a clean, practical interface that is highly configurable and supports features such as buddy lists, file transfers, multi-server connections, SSL encryption, proxy support, UTF-8 display, customizable sounds, spoken messages, tray notifications, message logging, and more.

mIRC also has a powerful scripting language that can be used both to automate mIRC and to create applications that perform a wide range of functions from network communications to playing games. mIRC has been in development for over a decade and is constantly being improved and updated with new technologies.

Changes:

  • Fixed /dline bug when deleting lines from windows containing a large number of lines.
  • Fixed switchbar/treebar blink icons bug that caused some window icons not to blink when they were set to /flash.

I didn't know thunderbird was getting IRC support. Will it be feature rich enough for you?

No, it is very barebones and I hope they improve on that by the time it is in a stable build. What happens, though, is that I always have thunderbird running and mirc only sometimes so from a logistical standpoint it is easier to forgo the extra features for the comfort.

I pirated this for the longest time but I eventually bought it. It will be obsolete for me after Thunderbird gets IRC support, though.

You pay once and get it for a lifetime. Works for me.

Well worth it.

i am sure it is and for $20 (sometimes $10 (i feel better about then $20), i have seen in the past) it's probably not a bad choice but i personally just use my own custom .reg file that i run once every 2-3 weeks to reset trail back to 30 days (all mIRC settings remain intact)

According to people that are smarter than me, yes. Irssi.

Personally, I'm sticking with mIRC.
