More leaked photos show iPhone 5C units in their packages

It's September 2nd, which means hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer for Apple to finally and officially reveal its newest iPhone products. Rumors, along with leaked photos and videos, claim that Apple will be releasing a new model, the iPhone 5C, that will have a plastic case that comes in many colors.

This past weekend, new images that allegedly show the iPhone 5C have made their way to the Internet. The images came from the Chinese website iapps.im but were quickly removed, but not before other sites such as 9to5Mac copied and reproduced their on their sites.

As you can see in the image above, the iPhone 5C is shown in its packaging, with white, blue and yellow case versions visible. Another image from the site shows a red colored iPhone 5C and even more photos from a Weibo account claim to show the manual that will be included inside the packaging for the iPhone 5C.

While Apple has yet to send out any official invites to the media, some reports claim that the company will hold its iPhone press conference on September 10th to announce both the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S, a rumored successor to the current iPhone 5 with a faster processor and other improved features. Both phones are expected to launch on September 20th.

HAHA. They are wrapped in the same plastic they are made out of. Looks like a bunch of kiddie phones. At least the Lumias have a black backdrop and only the tiles match the phone color. This thing looks very childish.

So much for Apple being a "premium brand". They never was, you all just thought they were.
The iFans can officially stop persecuting Android for selling plastic phones. No matter how many their are.

What the iFools need to do is concentrate on what the pros are of the material. Longevity, easy to cosmetically repair if damage is a huge plug. For example, if you keys scrap a gash into the case, it will still be the same color which will make the scrap nearly invisible. And the scrap is easily filled with clear nail polish. Once it dries, just a little buffing to smooth it out and the phone is like new again.

But at least none of Samsung's mid-ranged devices don't look like kiddie toys.
Just look at the Duos - http://cdn2.gsmarena.com/vv/pi...msung-galaxy-s-duos-001.jpg

Its looks just like a smaller Galaxy S III. Its poly-carbonate like its "S"ibling and it has the TW UI and it doesn't look kiddish.

This is how a device should look. It should be low in cost, without looking kiddish and cheap. This is what happens when you have experience building multi-level device vs a company who takes mid-range device and dresses them up real pretty and forgets how to make them look pretty when they are cheap.

The next release of the iPhone will be the biggest release for Apple ever. I like how the 5C is mass market and how the 5S will be more expensive and better quality. This is exactly what Apple did with the different iPod models and we all know how very well that worked out for them..Apple ended up owning the MP3 Player market and there was no room for anyone else.

Apple can't repeat that with the iPhone because of Android but the lesser players will now have a much tougher time of it.

What? No its not going to be the same. The thing is, iPod has flooded the music player market. Sales of iPod are dropping due to it making more sense to get the phone as not needing to carry 2 devices or just getting an iPad. That was 2007. This is 2013 where iPod sales have been dropping more than 10% every year and most people have an iPhone already. Also Android has a much higher penetration in the world at 70% when back then it was less than 1/2 that. Things are far different and also Microsoft is now back in the game which back then they wasn't. To many variables. What is going to happen is US buyers who have the jack will continue to buy the better model. However if they sell the 5C here, the better model sales are going to drop.

The sales of the lesser model will simply be because its lesser in cost. Why pay more to get the same thing if you dont have too. The reason the Galaxy S sales so well is the other Android phone we have are so horrible that the S is simply a better buy.

What if these are the new "ipod touches"? They have ipod(touch)-ish packaging. For an ipod touch price, it would be nice

Every year its the same story, everyone complains how horrible the new design looks and then it still manages to sell millions haha.

Also I won't be surprised that the Board and investors must have put a pressure on Apple to release cheap devices like these. I really doubt Jony Ive or Steve Jobs would have ever opted for these.

White one only looks good but the plastic seems cheaper than iPhone 4 and 4S.

These are controlled leaks by Apple. How come we still haven't seen the fingerprint technology being leaked in new iPhone 5S? That's because Apple chose not to.

Like how the iFans say about Samsung phones? Yeah they are still selling in the millions.

Not convinced, one thing is Apple going for the lower end market, another thing is throwing away most of what they stood for in quality, even basic. The packaging looks far cheaper than anything Apple has allowed up to now. I didn't think they would degrade the concept of the 'apple brand' which can still be present even in a cheaper product (the ipod mini or the shuffle are low end comparatively and still have that 'Apple' feel). Those colours and the crappy plastic holder for the phone does not scream 'pick me up, take me home' like almost every other packaging for Apple's hardware and software has. I thought they would have gone for a cheap product that feels premium. Sad

Stealing their design? Manufacturers take cues and ideas from other manufacturers in most products we use. I think Colgate should sue Crest for making that tube of toothpaste look like theirs.

You would? I sure wouldn't, the case would be lost as soon as Apple showed some images of a couple of coloured iPods. Would just be a waste of money for Nokia.

These Lumia guys act as though Nokia is now the holy grail of all phones and everyone is in awe of this masterpiece!

No, because Apple has the guts to sue for rounded rectangle shape. Someone ought to show them what it's like.

Not saying that's right either, infact it's pathetic.

If you honestly think that's what Apple was suing over, then you just read an attention grabbing linkbait headline, and didn't bother to read the rest of the article.

Not even remotely the same (colgate vs crest). What is funny is Apple sued Samsung claiming their phones looked to much like theirs, when GooPhones have looked exactly like iPhones for 3 models now. https://www.google.com/search?...AQ&biw=1366&bih=649

I mean look at them. Even if they arent going to sell in the huge millions, if PAple was really concerned about their IP, why haven't sued them? Because the intent on suing Samsung wasn;t because of anything stolen, it was to prevent them from kicking Apple ass. WHich they failed. Every court in the world except the biased American court sided with Samsung and said APple patents were either invalid or not patentable things anyways...the same exact thing happen when APple tried to sue Microsoft. Judge Koh is a lame dog republican who sided against a company from her own country who should be dismissed for unfair practices from the bench.

What I dont get is people seems to think it will have a price of $400-$500, so about £255 - £320. To me that doesn't make it a budget iPhone, not when you get get a 4S or 4 for a lot cheaper for like new off ebay and other sites.

The Galaxy S III is only $400 or less of contract for a brand new one. You can get a new 4S for about the same. I agree 100% that $500 is not a lowend market device. If the regular iPhone which cost Apple $200 to make is sold for 650/750/850, that means this phone was likely $150 to make. Which means Apple could sell it for $400 retail...but they wont. They always have to add that 40% retail markup which is lame.

You can appeal to middle and lower ends of the market while still mantaining great visual design in your hardware:

http://www.criogenizado.com/images/products/41_default2.jpg

Agreed. But if Apple also sells this device in the US, a US buyer won;t have to buy the 5C.

Right now you can get the Galaxy S III brand new off contract for less than $400. Its a year old, just like the hardware Apple is using in the 5C. It has a bigger screen, higher resolution, removable battery, avail on more carriers and its a avail now. For a US person you would have to be a complete iDiot to buy this.

For places like China or other Asian countries, its all about the hype of having an iPhone. The problem is, is a phone that has a value of $500USD considered affordable.

Consider this as I speak from experience. The average income of a Filipino where Nokia and Blackberry has a high percentage of sales is $350USD per month. How can such a person with this income afford an iPhone. The few people you do see with them have really upscale jobs. Those however are very few far and between. Glope Telecom requires a hefty down payment to get a phone, but its especially high with iPhone.

Look here - http://shop.globe.com.ph/iphone5-16gb-white.html The 16GB iPhone is being offered for 7200 Pesos....that is about $180USD. But again, remember; the average income of a filipino is $350USD and many have kids (lots of kids), rent, food and transportation cost. Also see, less than 3000 people have purchase the phone so far, in a country that has over 100M people. My wife who is Filipino says anyone with an iPhone or iPad or even a Touch is consider rich as these are luxury devices. I sent her family our older Apple devices and they were so happy they couldnt even talk.

What I am trying to figure, even if Apple did a deal with China Telecom, in order for them to afford this phone, I am sure Apple would either offer it at a huge discount, but charge the US buyers more to help even out the cost as more of us will buy them vs them. For what is assume to cost about $500 USD, that is not a low end device. Lowend would have to be below $300 while mid-range would be between $300-$600 as anything higher is high end which makes phones like the Galaxy Note at $700+ premium.

Apple will sell a lot of these, but not quite as many as you may thing. I am guessing for the first year, Apple will likely sell about 25M, but that will also mean they will sell less of the 5S model which will likely also be around 25M. I dont see Apple selling any more phones than they did with the iPhone 5. The fact is, the 5C is a 5 with the same hardware just a carbonate case. That is not a significant enough change to lower the cost only $150. That is what the 5 would have cost once the 5S was released anyways.

I usually like yellow, but this looks like a rotten tooth.

I would have thought they'd make a model that beats the Nexus 4 at least, not an even crappier model of the original iPhone 5.

why? The nexus 4 was a high end phone subsidized by google to entice consumers to their ecosystem. Apple already have their ecosystem well and truly sorted so no need to subsidize anything.

They just want to appeal to the lower end of the market. Once Steve Jobs passed away, this was enevitable. It doesn't have to beat anything, it just needs to be a cheap iphone, which is will be (probably).

A $500 phone isn't low end.

I don't think Apple wants to copy Nokia. Lets take a look at the miraculous sales Nokia has going for them......oh wait, never mind.

There is no wallpaper on the screen representing sticker... So you won't get wallpaper on 5C because it cheap? lol

Design is a clear L620 rip off I'm surprised they did not copy the double shot shells. Guess Apple now take their Qs from others. No more leader, just trying to catch up. iOS7 looks truly horrific IMO.. It's the 80s all over..

Nah, let the anonymous Internet user who has a Lumia as their avatar continue to think that Apple took the idea of making the back of the iPhone 5, a phone they've been making and improving on since before it's debut in 2007, colorful plastic from Nokia. Because in Paul's reality, the colorful plastic iMacs, iBooks, Power Macs and colorful metal iPods never existed, and Apple looked to Nokia for what to do next.

You know, the worst teams in Baseball have fans that would try to convince you that the team that just came off of a World Series winning season is actually the worst. Same applies here.

The back looks like a Nokia Lumia and the front looks like a baby's toy. I guess Apple have all their bases covered.

Pretty much why these will probably sell out in the first day. Nokia should copy Apple in sales.

The problem really is making the wallpaper match the phone color. If this packaging is anything like the iPod Touch, then that means it just a piece of plastic covering the screen. However, if you turn it on and it looks like that, I am going to laugh my arse off.

Samsung's latest TouchWiz UI which it has dropped on all its Galaxy devices looks much better than this.

Yes! iOS succeeded with hardware design, quality, most simple GUI and User Experience ever (I would say poor also) and hype of course.

Well if that is true, that the hardware design had a big impact, then the 5C should do just fine, sure is a lot better that the original iPhone design. The choice of hardware for the original iPhone, primarily the capacitive touch screen was well thought through and obviously helped it, but the aesthetics of it wasn't anything special until the iPhone 4.
