More rumors about upcoming Nokia Lumia phablet pop up

There have been tons of rumors over the past few months that Nokia is working on a large screen "phablet" smartphone, using Windows Phone 8, that would rival Samsung's Galaxy Note series. Now a new story claims to have more details about this device, along with another Lumia smartphone that could come with a 5.5-6 inch screen.

Nokiapoweruser.com reports, via unnamed sources, that the Nokia Lumia phablet will have a display between 5.5 and 6 inches in size, and will have a camera with hardware similar to the current Nokia Lumia 925. It adds that Nokia could launch the large screen Lumia sometime in September or October. The story added that a second Lumia phablet could launch in February 2014, with higher megapixel numbers for the camera along with a Lytro-style lens.

The same report also claims, again via an unnamed source, that Nokia is working on yet another low cost Windows Phone device for launch in September or October. The report says the design will be similar to the Lumia 720 but lighter and that it will have a 4.7 inch WXGA CBD AMOLED display along with an 8 MP Carl–Zeiss optics camera. The story claims that Nokia will price this phone "very aggressively" but did not go into specifics.

Word to the writer. A smartphone with a 5" or 6" screen doesn't automatically make it a phablet.

You have to specifically look at what Samsung did.

1. They provided applications normally found on the Galaxy Note 10.1 and brought them to the smaller Note.
2. The Notes have a digitized stylus. If any 5"+ phone doesn;t come with one than it is a phalet.

3. The name phablet is derive from phone and tablet. If the phone doesn;t have any tablet features than it is simply an oversized smartphone.

If you look at the original iPad, it was nothing more than a 10" iPod Touch because the OS 100% mimiced the smartphone and there weren't any tablet specific apps.
That has changed, but while Apple claims iPad has over 300000 unique applications, it was false. Many of those apps were simple resized iPhone apps that used the tablet space better.

This isn't what Samsung did. What Samsung did was make applications that were specific to tablets and the Note. They later shrunk a few and brought them to smaller Galaxy devices, but they lack the tablet based features and the devices don't come with a digitized pen.

If the Nokia device doesn't have the 3 main ingredients, then its not a "phablet".

Someone got up in a good mood this morning.

We're reporting on rumors here now? Must be getting desperate for something to post?

Largely what this site is starting to feel like is a rumor mill!

Sick and tired of reading about new phones and XBox junk.

Time to find a new tech site to visit then? Not that they also don't report on rumors and "Xbox junk" as well.

thank you goodness you have the free will to not click on headings that start off with "More rumors...", otherwise you would seem totally clueless for clicking on stuff you don't want to know about.

..and you are commenting on reports on rumors, while I am replying on your commenting on reports on rumors etc.

It's the way we roll I guess...
