Naughty Dog's The Last of Us revealed

Naughty Dog, who have achieved fame in the last several years with the three games in the Uncharted action-adventure series, have just announced their next Playstation 3 exclusive game, The Last of Us as part of Spike TV's Video Game Awards on Saturday night. This game tackles a more mature theme than the Uncharted franchise, as it deals with a global disaster that threatens the world.

The only description of the game so far is provided by Naughty Dog:

The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind. Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

There's also a teaser trailer for the game which you can see above. Sony and Naughty Dog claim the trailer footage was generated in the game's graphics engine, so no pre-rendered CGI here. So far there's no word on a release date for The Last of Us but it's already on our radars as one of the most anticipated games of the near future.

Another interesting looking game. Looks kind of similar to I Am Legend a little bit. Maybe I Am Legend meets The Walking Dead (except they aren't zombies lol). Even though I don't have a PS3, this does look really good. Might need to pick one up one day.

I'll always know Naughty Dog for Crash Bandicoot, despite the Uncharted series being awesome.

I watched the trailer yesterday and it certainly got my attention. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for this.

Also, is it just me or were Naughty Dog trying to mirror Ellie on Ellen Page? I thought that she had actually worked with them on this when I was watching the trailer, but having a quick look I can't find anything to confirm that.
