Neowin: Now hiring driven and motivated writers

Neowin has several news poster positions available, If you have a passion for writing informative and inspiring news articles, Neowin might be the right place for you. We are looking for writers in all timezones and prefer native English speakers.

What are our expectations?

  • Be active: We require at least 4 articles a week, but the more the better. We pay our writers per original article depending on the comments/hits. This won't replace your full time job, but is an easy way to earn extra cash for an MP3 player or copy of Windows 7.
  • We expect all articles to be originally written, we have strict guidelines for approvals. You must be proficient in English and grammar. We understand no one is perfect, but we do have high standards in order for a post to be approved on the main page.
  • You need to be able to bite your tongue when negative criticism occurs. It happens from time to time, but remember you represent Neowin on and off this site.
  • Although not mandatory, living near a convention/tech hotspot such as LA, Seattle, New York, or Tokyo would be a plus.
  • The ability to bite your tongue when comments on your news posts are off base and not incite a battle on the front page.

We do not assign people to different areas unlike other established news sources. Our writers will write from a variety of different categories.

Here's a general idea of what we cover here at Neowin:

  • Microsoft
  • Apple
  • Linux
  • Gaming
  • Software
  • Hardware
  • Gadgets
  • Mobile Devices
  • Editorials & Reviews

While we have always said we require at least 4 articles a week, we're willing to make exceptions based on the type of application. Someone who is willing to write original news or reviews, generally takes a lot longer to complete than someone who is essentially rewriting a press release or story submitted by other tech websites; this is all about improving the quality of Neowin and for that we're quite flexible.

Think you have what it takes?

You can apply by visiting www.neowin.net/contact/apply and following the instructions.

Please note that due to the volume of applications we receive, we may not be able to reply to all applications.

Thanks and Good luck!

I'd rather make fun of John and Owen and the rest of the hard working Neowin gang than prove that they have more writing skill in their pinkies than I have in every fibre of my being.

Nice of you to say but I'm sure you have some talent based on your obvious good taste

How does someone start out writing? I mean its something that interests me, but its not like I could just roll up to Neowin and go "Hello, can I write for you?"

I'm sure if you start a topic in one of their forums like "The iPad 3 Review" and it was well written and you have more than one topic of that nature you can get your foot in the door.

I was gonna request that the requirement would be that they are not part of any of the outside firm as the articles these days have been very biased and erroneous in many ways.

Please don't hire Windows biased writers either.

Neowin's Wikipedia Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neowin

I Quote:
"Neowin.net is a M - I - C - R - O - S - O - F - T E - N - T - H - U - S - I - A- S - T technology news website"

You would expect a little Microsoft bias from a M - I - C - R - O - S - O - F - T E - N - T - H - U - S - I - A- S - T tech website. Microsoft fanboys are much more rational than Apple fanboys and don't talk trash every chance they can get.

Your argument is flawed. Especially since there are a lot of article that don't deal with Microsoft on this site (which is a good thing otherwise it will turn out like that crap site that nobody really comments on anymore activewin.com. I just love pointing that site out any chance I get). Nice try though. You get an A for creativity though.

"Your argument is flawed" "Nice try though" "You get an A for creativity though" <--- those are not counter arguments. I think you are out of your league here.

Really now? They are looking for writers to write about Mac or Linux. Of course they should be unbiased. Please? Your statement of "Microsoft fanboys are much more rational than Apple fanboys and don't talk trash every chance they can get." is not a counter argument at all. It's a little kid arguments arguing over stupid things. I don't know about you, but I want my news unbiased.

YOU ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE. BUT STICK AROUND, I LOVE MAKING FUN OF MICROSOFT FANBOYS!

Calm down dude, you haven't provided any shred of counter argument to what I have said and you are just regurgitating what Ive already said and that isn't going to get you anywhere. Maybe try to argue with people who are more at your level on 4chan or something.

I wish there was a way to talk slower to you so you can possibly understand to what I am writing.

If neowin has articles on Android and Mac and iOS then it should NEVER be biased with people who are Microsoft Fanboys (i.e. YOU!).

Although I do find your comments entertaining. I usually link these Microsoft Fanboy comments many of you make on other sites I frequent. People do get a kick out of it. So please, keep arguing with me. I'm certainly entertained by how your "thought-process" operates.

*sigh* I suspect you don't understand my argument at all. You seem to be more interested in championing yourself rather than responding to any sort of argument. My interest in continuing this stupid conversation ends here so your time to form any sort of intelligent argument has expired.

PS: Feel free to link my comments to your intellectually inferior sites you frequent, I very much doubt they will be understood anyway.
