Any chance of guest users on future episodes? I'd definitely be up for that.

Yep, as Anaron pointed out, that is definitely part of the plan.

I would say realistically speaking give us a few more episodes to get into our stride so to speak, and then we are definitely planning on having guests, and part of that plan was somehow having members be on.

Maybe it will be one invited guest member an episode. Possibly a few guest members at once. Perhaps it is taking questions from the members live somehow, etc. etc.. That is all yet to be determined.

As you can hopefully tell by that list, we have already started throwing ideas around with each other. We definitely plan on doing things that make the community active participants, and reinforcing the fact that Neowin is about the community itself.

Which microphones do you guys use?

To answer your question indirectly, production will be improved upon greatly as time goes on. We are aware it has to be.

Hmm. Let's see how long does it last?

There is no doubt they have a history of disappearing. I can say personally the one I tried a few years back went away because I was also doing 90% of the editing as well, and that was way more time consuming than I expected.

This time around we have an actual team working on it and we all have roles on the team, so I am very confident in saying it is here to stay if the people want it to.

Isn't that like asking for subtitles for a radio show?

I believe that would be a transcript. Unfortunately I do not think we have one ozgeek.

Thanks for the nice comments so far everyone.

Thanks Shane!

And we will definitely talk about upcoming games in future episodes, absolutely. I think a big reason we did not really do so this first episode was there were so many big title games released the past few weeks for the holiday season.

Great podcast guys! Agree with many of your points you made.

I do worry about Activision buring out CoD like they seem to be doing, they do need to give a break for a bit and really improve it properly. Now I will fully admit I've not played MW3 but don't have the intention of forking out 40 odd quid to play a single player game, as I really didn't enjoy MW2 multiplayer. But all I've heard about is that it has a good single player game just like CoD games always have but the multiplayer hasn't radically changed much apart from the killstreak options.

I just couldn't get into the multiplayer myself as the last CoD game I played online was the first one and this feels completly different to that original, and I think its down to the maps felt too small and seeing the leveling aspect taken from the BF series. I'm probably getting old but I just want online FPS like used too with UT and such, and if I wanted a BF styled game i'll play Battlefield but it seems times are a changing .

Anyway you are right that BF3 and MW3 can't be compared, they are entirely different beasts.

Final thing you struck a cord with was the PC gaming towards the end and I'm glad you see that its not just piracy PC games have problems but the specs, however there is one complete factor no brings nor mentions and that is the decline of the desktop.

Back in the day you'll buy a desktop PC, and if had a ok gfx card you could play the PC games that were out there. New games comes out require a faster card, no problem! Buy a new one pop the hood and swap out. Bam better graphics and a higher frame rate. Need more ram? do the same again. You just can't do the same with laptops and everyone has one, and they all have crappy integrated graphics that Intel had been spewing out that would probably coke at the sight of a football manager game and die of a heart attack at the sight of an FPS.

Thankfully Intel have changed their tactics with IGP's with the newer chips and AMD's A class Fusion chips are definate stakes in the ground to changing that. Not only that but Thunderbolt/Light Peak could give rise to a new external GPU market that could give the PC gaming market a new leash of life.

Anyway that enough rambling from me, can't wait till the next episode

Can't we listen to it live?
I mean here on this page without downloading it

Click on the link rather than right-click > Save to hear it from the browser. That's about as "live" as you can get it.
