Neowin's 11th birthday giveaway winners; new style & direction inbound!

11 years can come and go quickly, so quickly in fact that’s hard to think that we’ve been around for just that long. This month, October, celebrates Neowin’s 11th birthday as a site that strives to cover Microsoft and other tech news, and this wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic community that we have. Cheers, everyone!

New direction!

Also, the staff have been working hard over the past couple of weeks to decide on changes to the way we are delivering news to you: the readers.

We decided that news regurgitation and unnecessary articles will be a thing of the past, replaced with fresh, engaging and interesting content with a more friendly style. We have been listening to feedback about our news reporting, and we feel like it’s time to personalize and bring tech news back to a level that is more enjoyable to read.

Along with this new style of news that we hope you’ll enjoy, we are accelerating our original content and feature articles. As you may have noticed, we have recently been pushing out regular reviews, and that will continue to occur along with more editorials, more opinion and more original analysis than before.

This is just part of what's happening; our changes are explained in more detail in this forum thread, so check that our for more on how Neowin is changing.

We hope everyone appreciates the direction we are headed, and while it won’t happen overnight and will take some work on the part of the news staff, we hope the end result will be a better Neowin.

Sad to not be a "winner" but happy to see the old way of "news reporting" will hopefully be coming back. Too many rumors and sensational topics that are just reruns of other sites that have the same crap. Keep up the good work guys and I hope we all see more of the good old

"We decided that news regurgitation and unnecessary articles will be a thing of the past..."

Thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I'll believe it when I see it!!!!!!!

Congratulations!
I haven't had my account for that long but having been a visitor for a very long time.

I would also very much appreciate less articles/news but longer/better/higher/more in-depth quality articles instead.

Thank you for the free subscription Steve,I got your email this morning saying I won it. Alone with the other lucky winners listed above. Thank you-Andrea Borman.

I thought the email this morning was some kind of phising scam.
I think this is the first time I've won something since i was about 8 and i won something at Ladybird Club

congratulations to all the lucky winners:) lets hope the new direction will bring more fresh points of interests for all readers.

I have been turned off by the recent forum upgrade which took away many settings like threads per page and posts per thread.

I like the sound of the new direction. The news reposting was reaching high levels, and the only articles I'm guaranteed to click and read are the Editorials as they're usually really well written

I've been a member for a long time but became a lurker because the news direction and reviews went way South.

We decided that news regurgitation and unnecessary articles will be a thing of the past, replaced with fresh, engaging and interesting content with a more friendly style.

Sounds like you're bringing back the old news style. Finally!

I'm with you for over 3 years and I can not imagine life without this site.
For me, this portal is unique, as well as a great atmosphere here.
I congratulate the winner.

P.S
It is a pity that I am not in the list of winners, but what can not help.
I hope that one day I win something eventually.

Yours cordially Jarek.

Does this equate to more or less frontpage news about Steve Jobs?

Less. Editors will be rejecting pointless Apple/Steve Jobs stuff where we haven't in the past
