79 MB to burn when the excellent CDBurnerXP handles it all with 5 MB ...
How can this company continue on its mad, mad, mad course when its hysteria seems to grow exponential with the bloat of its software? There was a time when Nero was a very nice word, that was before yesterday... Good heavens.

I use AShampoo to burn music CD's for my car. It has an MP3 jack, but it's a PITA wiring in my 'phone every morning so I prefer to have a CD in.

I've been using BurnAware Free for a long time. It lacks disc copying but the paid version has it. Another good one I just found a few weeks back is AnyBurn and it has a portable version available.

I skipped a few releases of Nero, but decided to try it out after receiving an excellent discounted offer. Nero 12 Platinum had some very nice UI improvements, (not a great deal of change in the appearance of Burning ROM though), and many of the programs had undergone other changes for the better IMO. I recently upgraded to Nero 2014 Platinum and it has performed very well in my experience, YMMV, of course.

has nero managed to improve itself yet or is it still as bloated as ever? (not that i've needed to burn a disk for a few years now)

nero hasn't been good since version 6 IMO

The award for the most stereotypical response goes to... ^

Brando's right on the money IMO.
Nero used to be great, but there are better products out there now. (and cheaper ones)
