New Gears of War game to be announced Monday

It's not exactly a shock to learn that Epic Games and Microsoft will be releasing a new title in its Gears of War series. The third person sci-fi shooter games have become one of the biggest Xbox 360 exclusive game franchises; indeed, it's perhaps only behind Microsoft's own Halo series in popularity and sales.

Today, Game Informer's web site has revealed that the cover story for its upcoming next print edition will talk about that next Gears of War game. In an interesting twist, the magazine's cover image has been darkened on GameInfomer's website as a teaser to the full announcement. That is expected to happen on Monday as part of Microsoft's pre-E3 2012 press conference.

Microsoft and Epic apparently were working on a spin-off of Gears of War, titled Gears of War: Exile, that was rumored to be a Kinect-exclusive game. While Epic Games' lead designer, Cliff Bleszinski, did in fact confirm a few months ago that there was a game in development for a while with that title, he also confirmed that it was later cancelled.

NeoGamr will be front and center at Microsoft's E3 2012 press conference in Los Angeles on Monday to bring you all the information from that event.

Can only assume it is being done by a company other than Epic as it's a pretty quick turn around after Gears 3. Still, not a bad thing.

How about bringing Gears 2 and Gears 3 to the PC already Epic/Microsoft? I mean, Gears 2 has been out for years, can't be many buying it anymore. And Gears 3 has been out what, a year or more already? Would be kinda nice. Just saying.

Would you really want them to do that? Do you remember the utterly broken mess that gears 1's windows port was when it came out? Yeah...I wouldn't be surprised if that would happen again.

I don't think Epic ported Gears 1 to PC. I think People Can Fly did it actually, though I could be mistaken. Either way, yes I would like them to port Gears 2 and 3 to PC, even if Gears 1 was a buggy mess when it came out

Same. I'm actually in the process of completing #2.. haha

I would've finished it but my 360 HD died. The dying 360s before were enough BS for me, I've barely touched my console for serious gaming since. I still occasionally buy stuff but have no desire to really use it.
