New Ghostbusters Game Real - But On Hold!

Yesterday, various videos of what appeared to be a new Ghostbusters game showed up on Youtube. Many people figured the videos were fake and that the game was "photoshopped" from some Gears of War footage or screenshots. Needless to say, there was some hub bub over it. Now, IGN has confirmed that the footage was indeed real. Developer ZootFly confirmed they were working on a new Ghostbusters game (yay) but hold on, there is some bad news. Here is what IGN had to report on this breaking news:

Bostjan Troha, CEO of ZootFly, told IGN UK: "We are very glad to see the overwhelming response to the Ghostbusters prototype movies. What you've seen is indeed in-game footage of early prototypes on the Xbox 360, running on ZootFly's proprietary engine. Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road. But everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP.

"Not to lose the momentum, a part the ZootFly team is currently working on an original game called TimeO, which is closely related to Ghostbusters. The game follows the adventures of two die-hard New Yorkers. They get trapped deep in the shadow world of a parallel New York. The city itself is a war machine threatening to wipe out our world and they have three days to stop it. As soon as the Ghostbusters IP issue is resolved, the whole team will go back to Ghostbusters."

So there you have it folks, yes a new Ghostbusters game was in the pipeline, but for now the game is on hold. Hopefully the IP issues can be taken care of and we can all enjoy a new game in the severely under appreciated Ghostbusters universe.

I bet all the money in the world that Bill Murray is the main person keeping them from finishing it.

When it comes to anything Ghostbusters related he's a complete ass about who can do what. Dan Akroyd himself has even said he can't stand that Bill Murray owns part of the name and everything. Dan Akroyd has actually wanted to get another movie made but Bill Murray is being an ass with that as well.

Did I mention Bill Murray is a complete ass? :P

Is it just me, or do you have a disliking against Bill Murray?

Let's hope they'll get things sorted out... ...I like what I saw of this game.

The ghosts dont seem to get trapped in the samples I viewed via youtube...they just 'die'...that doesnt sound very ghostbustery even the old commadore 64 version used to have capture that old version was great...
