New touchscreen Windows 8 all-in-one PCs coming from Acer

Acer has today announced that it will be bringing a new all-in-one desktop PC to market featuring Windows 8. Acer has said that the PC will be shipping to customers in Canada, but have not yet commented on a wider release. According to the company, the Aspire 5600U was built to "deliver all aspects of digital life into a stylish entertainment hub". The new all-in-one features a 23-inch 1080p display (1920x1080), which can be reclined up to 80 degrees, taking it into touch mode, which then allows for up to 10 finger input. It also features Acer's Instant On technology, which is said to resume functionality in 1.5 seconds, and comes in at just 1.4 inches thin.

Frank Chang, direction of mobility, desktops and displays for Acer said,

Our newest AIO offers consumers a no-compromise solution for those wanting the power of a desktop in a sleek and elegant chassis. The blend of Windows 8, capacitive touch technology, instant resume functionality and fast processing deliver a superb computing experience, making it an ideal entertainment hub for college dorms or an entire household.

The Acer Aspire 5600U comes with an Intel Core i5 310M processor (2.5GHz, 3M total cache), 8GB of RAM memory, a 1TB hard drive, a SuperMulti optical drive, card reader, Bluetooth, HDMI output and input, two USB 3.0 ports and three USB 2.0 ports. The built-in speakers come with Acer's Real Sound Lab's CONEQ technology, which provides virtual surround sound.

The new all-in-one from Acer will be priced at $1,299.00 in Canada.
