Nintendo announces 3DS presentation for Friday

Nintendo fans, prepare to take the day off. Plans have been announced to hold a special internet conference on Friday, in order to cover news that wasn't released at their previous conference. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's CEO, will be beamed to bedrooms everywhere in a pre-recorded message at 8pm Japan time.

But before you start phoning your boss and preparing your best fake cough, it's probably worth thinking about how low-key the whole announcement is. An internet conference isn't exactly the place to go for hard hitting news, and it doesn't look like Nintendo's putting pressure on it either. The 3DS will be the main focus of the event and Nintendo has mentioned that the November firmware update and wireless support for Mario Kart 7 are going to be main topics.

This will be an event for the dedicated, or so it seems. A few questions spring to mind though. For example, if the presentation is being streamed live, why has it been pre-recorded? And why has the time and effort been put into a live streaming presentation for news that would most likely be suited for a press release? Nintendo might have a surprise up their sleeves, but the only way to be sure is to follow along when the video hits the net.

Full details can be found on Nintendo Japan's website here.

Please, let's not create too much speculations... I've had enough this year.

Ha, nintendo merging with apple, guys, you have to see it like this: Apple don't want buttons and nintendo will not want a pure touch experience.

Could Nintendo exclusive games be opening up on other platforms? Some financial analysts asked Nintendo to do so.

Actually there was even a rumor of some exclusive partnership with Apple too. But Apple don't need them- at all!

Nope, they wont. And I really wish people would stop their foolish dreaming of nintendo games being on phones. They've already made it very clear, and did so very recently, that they're not going to go multiplatform.

Actually Nintendo going exclusively to Apple would pretty be a fantastic parry attack to Sony's method of putting their franchises on Android. While not NEEDED, would definitely be a fantastic extra bit of arsenal for Apple.

But, I doubt it'll happen anyway. However, if it did? It would almost certainly make me want to try and get an iPad 2 on the cheap somehow.

Don't really need a event for announcing a few new features, they just wanted to release it without too much hype. All it'll detail is the Video recording feature and stuff.
