Back in July, Nintendo said goodbye to Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo from 2002 until July of this year. Since then, Nintendo's board of directors have been searching for Iwata's replacement; a search that has now come to an end.
Confirmed today through a legal letter made public, Tatsumi Kimishima has been named successor to Iwata. Kimishima is a man of business and is considered to have great understanding of Western civilization, which was perhaps the greatest asset for him being voted to lead the company. His resume is robust, which includes being hired as the CFO of The Pokemon Company in 2000.
Kimishima takes the reins as president during a time where Nintendo is undergoing reorganization. The company hopes to bring the Nintendo brand back into relevancy in an age where Microsoft and Sony rule the console market, and mobile platforms distract Nintendo's once-strong casual gaming audience.
Former interim heads of Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda, will continue to play large roles within the company to provide the vision of the future, which includes Nintendo's in-development 'NX' console, which is said to include a CPU made by AMD.
