No Achievements for Xbox Originals

Major Nelson has answered a pressing question regarding the recent Xbox Originals announcement. He has stamped out all hope that the games will have additional functionality like Achievements and Gamer score, first playing the "we don't want to ruin the original experience" PR card: "These are the original games that were created before Xbox 360. In order to preserve the integrity of the original gaming experience they provide, they will have the features available at the time of their initial release." He then posts a follow-up comment explaining that although he agrees that it would be a great addition, "as many folks have noted, for a variety of reasons it's just not possible".

This isn't really news-worthy if you ask me. Anyone who was expecting the downloadable games to be superior to the originals was deluding themselves from the start. These are just downloadable versions of the exact same games you bought in the shops.. no more, no less.
