Nokia already holding Lumia 920 giveaway

On Wednesday, Nokia officially introduced its high end Lumia 920 smartphone, with Windows Phone 8 running inside. While the company didn't reveal some important information about the hardware, such as a release date, price or wireless carriers, Nokia is already giving folks a chance to win a Lumia 920.

The official Nokia Facebook page now has a giveaway where the company says it will give out five of the Lumia 920 smartphones. Unlike most of the contests we report on, this one appears to be pretty much worldwide, with the only main restriction being that contestants have to be 16 years of age and over.

The contest is pretty simple. People simply have to fill out a form with some basic info and a quick note on why they want to switch to Nokia. If you invite some friends to join the contest, you will get some extra entries for each friend that signs up. The contest deadline is on Friday, September 21st and the winners will be notified by September 30th.

Since there's no word yet on which wireless carrier will offer the Lumia 920, we will have to guess that the winners will get a version that will work on their available network.

well competition winners announced on Sept. 30.

So id expect something close to that being the release of the phone.

I really dont get Nokia or MS. Nokia has this 808 phone with 41mp, but decides to release a subpar 8mp camera on their top of the range phone!&#@&$*@#& Honestly, that would have been a game changer to even see 20mp on one of these Lumias. Do these two think that the aim of the game is to underwhelm customers into a state of mindless apathetic purchasing? Boring tiles, single core, monotones and the same camera as the last generation.

1. Boring tiles - that's a matter of personal opinion. Some people genuinely like the UI>
2. Single core - the Lumia 920 is dual core
3. MP aren't everything, it's about how you use them. There are a lot of examples of comparisons bettween the 920 and the others. The L920 offers the better result. See http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17y6ywkbxh36qjpg/xlarge.jpg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFhhBJ1URCg.

Um is auto assist light a new name for flash? That phone clearly had a flash situation with longer exposure.

No. DSLRs have this as well. If you were paying attention to the video, the flash was on to help the camera focus on the object. Then, after the flash was gone, you were able to hear the shutter sound.
You press the button halfway, the flash comes on to help the camera to focus. You press it all the way and the flash goes out, followed by the moment when the camera takes the picture. Simple.

I entered, but because I have a good reason. A friend of mine had their Lumia 900 stolen while they were attending PAX Prime. If I win the 920 I will give them my 900 to replace theirs.

Notice how Nokia doesn't release the price of this, Microsoft doesn't release the price of Surface, and people have fits. Motorola doesn't announce a price for the phones from yesterday, and nobody minds.

What's Motorola??

Already joined :-)
That's gonna be very hard to win 1 on 5, knowing 8,765,650 people like the Nokia page (until now)
