Nokia to fix purple hue display issue on Lumia 900

The Lumia 900 from Nokia has already had to deal with a problem that prevented some users of the Windows Phone device to connect to their data service. Nokia fixed the problem a few days after the smartphone's launch in April and even gave users a $100 credit on their AT&T bill. Now Nokia has announced it will fix another, smaller, problem with the Lumia 900.

Some owners of the phone have reported that when the Lumia 900's display is set to low brightness, they see a purple hue coming from the screen. You can see an example of that issue in the image above, from WPCentral.

In response to a user's enquiry on the matter, the Nokia Care US Twitter page stated on Sunday, "...we have identified the issue and will be addressed through a future SW [software] update." When asked when the update might be released, Nokia Care tweeted that it was "...unable to comment on future SW release dates but will announce from here when it is available for download."

WPCentral also reports a few more minor Lumia 900 glitches that have been reported by users. They include problems with high volume even when set to level 1 and the camera button not waking up the device.

Now we just need Samsung/Google to do the same for the Galaxy Nexus

My purple/magenta and yellow tinged phone gave me buyer's remorse.

I have the purple hue, annoying glitch with the volume rocker.. Things I never had with my LG Quantum..
Plus, it lags sometimes when you type on the keyboard.,
BUT, i'm glad with my lumia, already went twice on the floor and it feels solid, at the beggining I was kinda deceived with it because I was coming from Another WP7, I wasn't feeling like the first time I jumped on the platform.
Overall, i'm happy with my choice, even though It could have been better If it was my first WP7 device, this is kinda normal I guess.

It's my opinion that big companies in general, not just Nokia, increasingly rush products to the market with quality control as the biggest casualty.

I won't argue there, but it's odd that little quirks like this seem to only be occurring on Lumia phones... I'm glad to see Nokia so quick to resolve them, but it strikes me as odd that HTC and Samsung and all the other OEM's aren't experiencing this.

If you're talking about Windows Phone, I'd tend to agree... But QA on many other devices (See Samsung and their flagship android for example), there are blatant issues on delivery of the phone. It's not only Nokia, you probably don't hear it as much in news sites though. Nokia + Microsoft pushed hard for visibility with this launch, which increased the potential for bad press. If they want to increase and KEEP their market share, they really need to put more money and time in QA...

Oh, but didn't you hear? The "phone beta test is over"!

Hahah, epic! Guess we've gotten used to having crap quality on launch.

I just want to be able to turn of the vibrate function! It has to be the most annoying vibrate i've ever had on any phone!

Should be able to, Settings -> ringtones+sounds ->Vibrate[Off]

Agreed. I have my vibrate turned off... Though that will mean that you can't turn your phone to just vibrate if you're in a movie or something, as if you have the vibrate off, you can only set it to silent. I'm hoping this is fixed in WP8, as it irks me. lol

It's nice to see that Nokia is so quick to fix these issues, but I am definitely curious why so many little issues are occurring on the Lumia line only... I take it because they are often releasing builds other than the main release builds?
