Nokia "World of Entertainment" campaign giving free games and store credit to new Lumia owners [Update]

Nokia is offering Windows Phone Store credit and a series of Gameloft titles to Lumia owners in a seemingly global campaign dubbed "World of Entertainment."

Depending on where you're located, the amount of Windows Phone Store credit being offered changes. For example, residents of the UK are being offered £34 worth of games and £20 of Windows Phone Store credit, whereas Australian residents are being offered $25 worth of games and $40 worth of Windows Store Credit. Residents of the US are being offered $40 worth of games, and $25 worth of Windows Phone Store credit.

Unfortunately, the Lumia phones that are eligible for this promotion are also location-dependent. In the UK and Australia, the promotion extends to owners of the Lumia 625, 1020, 1320 or 1520, however in the US the promotion is restricted to users of the Lumia Icon, 1020 or 1520 only. The Terms & Conditions also specify that its for "new" owners, however phones purchased from as far back as December are reportedly being able to claim the voucher. Whether or not this is a bug, or just a poorly worded T&C, is yet to be known.

The credit can be used for either apps from the Windows Store, or content from Xbox Video. It appears to be a worldwide campaign, so it does not just apply to the countries listed in this article. In order to redeem the voucher, go to the Nokia Collection in the Windows Phone Store and download the Gift Voucher app. You can then follow the instructions in the app to redeem your gift card.

UPDATE: It may or may not work for existing Lumia owners. This may be based on whether or not you have participated in a free Windows Phone Store credit promotion before.

Promotion only applicable to certain Lumia models of 625, 1020, 1320, 1520 & Icon. :(....... no love for my lumia 925............

Never mind. It's valid in Canada.

The promo link leads to the main Nokia Canada page, so it doesn't look like it's valid here, but the Voucher app is available in the "Nokia Collection" section of the app store.

Meh wasn't eligible but I did find out I was eligable for a free cover for my old/unused 520 :p Might come in handy if I decide to sell it.

Just in case anyone is dumb like me, to get the games go into the App Social app and at the top you should see a "Gameloft Gift" banner add, it's not a code that you need to apply, that's only for the MS credit :)

Awesome, doing this now!

Edit: The gift voucher app isn't there for me on my Lumia 1520 on AT&T.

Where are you from? Its not listed on the US Nokia homepage like it is for Singapore or Australia, for example. The US arm of this promotion might still be a few hours premature: I actually found the US page by editing the URL.

I went to the source link and according to the terms and conditions it only applies to devices purchased after April 14th. I purchased mine in January. I'm in the US with AT&T and am otherwise eligible. I also went to the direct app download link from Nokia's website and it tells me my device is not eligible to download the app.

Also, I'm on WP 8.1, that may effect my eligibility as well.

That's fairly strange. Seems like its a hit or miss: the Australian store is accepting phones purchased from months ago. I'll update the article accordingly.

Has it been verified to work on a device running the 8.1 Preview?

I guess I'm just SOL then!

Tried it on my wife's 1020 and it let me download it but when I tried redeeming the voucher it told me that its only available for devices purchased within the window as stated in the T&C. I guess they are enforcing it selectively based on your region.

Yupp, it seems that way then :( I bought mine in February so it's looking to be quite random as to whether you'll get it or not.
