Nokia's 'Martini' phone could have Lumia 930 as its official name

While we continue to wait for Nokia to sell off its smartphone division to Microsoft, it is still very busy making Windows Phone devices. Today, there's a new rumor that one of their next smartphones with Microsoft's OS could be called the Lumia 930.

The report comes from 'evleaks' on his Twitter account, as have many of his previous Nokia news scoops. The Lumia 930 is apparently the real name for 'Martini' the internal code name at Nokia for the device, again as reported by 'evleaks' earlier in March.

That's all we currently know about the Lumia 930-Martini, but Nokia is also supposed to be working on another budget-priced Windows Phone, the Lumia 630. Yet another phone with the code name 'Goldfinger" is rumored to be in the works as well.

There are reports that Nokia could be holding a press event in mid-April but that time frame is after the deal to sell its Devices and Services division to Microsoft is supposed to be completed. Hopefully we will get some clarity on Nokia's future smartphone plans in the next couple of weeks.

I have such a hard time making sense of all the names for the different Nokia phones I can only imagine the poor guy that walks in a store to buy one

Any given store will only have a few phones at most. AT&T is really the only US provider with a wide selection.

The Eorld is bigger than the US... and a better market for Nokia than the US. As far as I know the Martini ( shaken not stirred.. :-) ) will be a 925 kind of device, later on the Goldfinger will be a more advanced one and, hopefully, the one that will replace my 920.

Just remember, bigger number = better.

I've mentioned this many times. I've actually heard an AT&T sales rep say, "hang on, let me Google which model is the best." Yes, they actually pulled their phone out in front of a customer.

That's just a poorly trained salesperson. Do you walk into a BMW dealership and see them searching the internet to figure out what a 535i is?

And you know this how?

"Simple"

Lumia XYZ

X = Model / Series (600 800 900 etc)
Y = Generation (So 900 was first gen, 920 second, 930 will be the third gen)
Z = Refresh version for certain carriers (so 925 is the version version of the 920)

See not that difficult

I think it'd be pretty cool if we got a Lumia Surface- that could be microsoft's flagship once they absorb Nokia and everything. Or Lumia Pro or just whatever....idk, I'm no good at names. But it'd be nice to see all of this number naming come to an end soon and just settle with one main flagship.

How many people will care? Phones with numbers for names? Surface? Really? who cares? How does this change anything? How does this make Microsoft Windows Phone relevant for anyone?

how is it not? having one flagship phone across carriers would be much more beneficial than different phones across different carriers. you lose out on features that way. plus, having a single phone will be better for recognition. When I say Samsung, you think of galaxy s4 or note 3, but when I say Lumia, what do you think of? 920? 925? Icon? 1020? its fragmented.

Will the 930 be a 8.1 phone i.e. better specs than the old ones? my contract is finished but holding off upgrading cus i want a newly released WP with updated specs. Was thinking about going S5 but its extremely underwhelming for a flagship device and never getting iphone cus i hate apple that much as a company, good products even though they rarely change to much but hate the company though (and thats my opinion Stevan not trolling). Knowing my luck ill go with a WP then someat much better will be out like 2 days later
