Notepad++ 6.5.2

Notepad++ is a free (as in "free speech" and also as in "free beer") source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. Running in the MS Windows environment, its use is governed by GPL License.

Based on the powerful editing component Scintilla, Notepad++ is written in C++ and uses pure Win32 API and STL which ensures a higher execution speed and smaller program size. By optimizing as many routines as possible without losing user friendliness, Notepad++ is trying to reduce the world carbon dioxide emissions. When using less CPU power, the PC can throttle down and reduce power consumption, resulting in a greener environment.

What's new in Notepad++ 6.5.2:

  • Add sort lines feature.
  • Make 2 external commands as build-in commands: Open containing folder in Explorer/cmd.
  • URL hovered highlighting can be customized.
  • Fix the bug that Global Styles are not loaded completely in Stylers Configurator.
  • Improve php and js parsers in functionList.
  • Add panel icons for 6 panels: ascii insertion, clipboard history, doc map, doc switcher, function list and project.
  • Fix function list class border determination problem (while open/close symbols are in the comment zone).
  • Fix crash (buffer overflowed problem) for function calltip.
  • Fix a bug in path auto-completion feature.
  • Fix tab close button's color remains hovered while mouse leaves.
  • Update html auto-completion file.

Any minute now Dot Matrix is going to come in here and complain about how Notepad++ doesn't use the native Windows UI. Standby, everybody.

The N++ UI is atrocious.

There's definately too much highlights, shadows and gradients in this UI. It could use more flat colors and plain squares.

But it does! It's a pure, native Win32 application.

This editor is a life saver at my work. I do wish they would update the UI as it's a bit outdated and could use a redo.
I hate the fact that if you have more tabs open, and have edited some, when you close N++ it will ask for every file if you want to save it, there is no SAVE ALL option. Annoying as hell when you search and replace in 20+ html/xml files for example and click the close button.

It does, and that's exactly how I do it when I modify multiple tabs. Works fine.

It would, but I agree that it's a good idea that's also part of many other advanced notepads.

Yes that does work indeed. That's what I do now. It's not that I want to nag but most other editors support that if you close the application it will ask to save all files. This just doesn't and loops through all the files separately. It would just make N++ better with the extra option, I can imagine this wouldn't be hard to implement being a developer myself
