NPD Group: Halo: ODST bestselling game in September

ODST was ok but very short, definitley NOT worth $59.99 IMO.

October will be nothing but MW2 - 10million units sold!

Except it comes out in November.. =X

DOH!

Good catch man.... Tru That!

November and I will go out on a limb here and say probably December and January will be ruled by Modern Warfare 2 in both sales and Live game play.

Though this is based on the game living up to what everyone expects it to, I dont think IW will drop the ball that badly. Hope the PC Gamer crowd can see past the mod/ded server difference.

Maybe just me but I find the ODST commerial depicting a funeral to be highly disrespectful to families that have relative deployed and especially to those that have recently lost. Seeing that nerdy kid get all shook up when the shots are fired irritated/disgusted me. Funny thing is I'm not related to anyone or know anyone deployed so I can imagine how this commercial would make me feel if I did.

You should really look up the full version on Youtube. The one on television cuts out a lot.

It is just you, and maybe a few others. The "nerdy" kid's reactions would be pretty accurate to how it is in real life and that's what they were going for. Basically you just said it disgusted you because someone who's scared got scared because he heard gun shots in a battle/war..

Not really. I was irritated by it cause the kid obviously never had experienced war as he looked fresh out of his game room and more importantly I thought of how someone that just lost someone deployed would feel after seeing that commercial having just left a funeral like that.

Rated M for More of the Same!

Have you played ODST? It's hardly more of the same.

Not surprised by this. Pretty much was going to be on top no matter what.

Yep, same old stuff, new packaging though.

I think Halo 3 was the end of the greatness.

That can be said for almost all FPS. The category itself has hit a wall, now the only thing left is adding RPG elements which they've started doing. Yet, a PFS, like any other one, is still the same old first person shooter.

It's more of the same if you've ever played a second-rate FPS of any kind before.

meh, this means squat. there wasnt any real competition that was released along side this in Sept. the beatles maybe? no competition.

wasnt this part of the release date strat anyways?

Batman for example was released a month prior and im sure it had decent sales on its release month as well.
Wii Sports Resort was released in July. I mean c'mon, and it's #2 on sales two months later, now THATS impressive.

you seem to be doing alot to diminish it's success, give it it's credit. I agree Batman is very good and it's success is a very good thing, but it's not impressive that Wii sports is still #2 after only 2 months, meh to that IMO. You must not remember how long Wii Play was in the top10 after it first came out. What would have been impressive is if it had been able to sell this much still without a hardware packin.

Wii Sports Resort is still #2 because, and this is the sad part I suppose, the rest of the Wii lineup is so bad it's not even worth it.

Valid points.

BUT,
Still remains that there was absolutely no competition on its time of release. (strategic release-very smart on their part)
cause a couple weeks later into an oct rls, and numbers wouldnt be nearly what they were for sept.
It's hard to give credit under the no-comp circumstance.

Id like to see the numbers for OCT where there actually are other games to choose from.

Im afraid that Halo has become nothing more than the Madden of FPS's.

No matter what the competition even if it didnt sell as many units it would still come first with sales against any PS3 or other 360 game. You think something released on the same month can outsell Halo? No matter what game theres no chance in hell the following is to large.

just av to wait for 2 months and see if ODST is still selling 442.9k like Wii sports resort is, if it is the wii not so impressive.

and yeah OCT sales will be a gd decider with modern warfare 2 and some other big games comming out. if ODST can hold its own against that then it has done well.

MW2 doesn't come out until November.
