Use your iPhone to instant message your friends list, view and comment on your friends’ photos and status updates from Windows Live, Facebook, and MySpace, and at a glance, see what your Messenger friends are sharing from Flickr, YouTube, and many other social and photo sharing sites. Make sure to visit http://profile.live.com/Services today and setup Windows Live to bring in your social networks. Messenger is simply the best way to connect with your closest friends.

IM+ is so much better than this POS, cant even asign a incomming IM allert.
and where is the option to sign out? seriously MS what a let down this app is.

msn crapp more like. Not being able to just show online contacts is a big omission. And the person who suggested just closing the group for the offline contacts, erm what if there are people in the group who are online?

as mentioned above, worst app ever.

They weren't talking about offline contacts. Just contacts in general. You've never been able to hide individual contacts with MSN or WLM so they're not going to start with their mobile version.

I'm actually quite impressed by this App. It's good to have an official App for something as big as WLM that doesn't involve adverts or a price. It's reasonably well laid out (apart from the inability to sort users by status - but I'm sure that'll come in the future) and I didn't have any problems chatting on it when I tried it out. So for now, it's staying on the phone!

Downloaded... and haven't been able to connect. "Sorry, Messenger isn't available right now. Please try again later." Anyone else getting this?!

How long will take to Microsoft to make available this app to other markets? why in english and french?? french???

After using this app all day, I don't like it. Here is why:

1. Push notifications!!!! They don't seem to be working. Sending messages from 1 MSN account to the one on my iPhone and no notifications were received at all. They are all turned on on the settings options, but nothing!
2. Not able to hide offline contacts (lots have been said about this so I won't go deeper into this, just hope it is added soon).
3. Seems to disconnect very quickly. Unlike Beejive that can stay connected for days, this one seems to disconnect shortly after you exit the application. didn't find any setting to tweak this. This leads me to.
4. Lack of customization and setting. Setting options are very basic.
5. Sloooow. Takes ages to connect, ages to update social. Beejive connects to the MSN network a lot faster than the official program!

This are my main quirks about this app. It looks good, and I'd really like to use it as my main IM app in my iPhone. But for now, I'll have to stick with Beejive. Still this is only the first version, and guess it can only get better as time goes by.

Reading the above comments, there are suddenly a huge influx of trolls.. or the app isn't all its cracked up to be.

So I'll stick with eBuddy Pro.

1. Push notifications DO work.
2. True
3. Mines do not disconnect, and it's already been an hour.
4. True
5. What? Unless you're stealing someone's wifi, updating and connecting are not slow at all.

What I already don't like about the app is how it cannot connect simultaneously with WLM on Windows. By signing in from the App, it disconnects me from Windows WLM.

Got it. Now I don't need to create a bridge account to link to my hotmail one, like in ebuddy or palringo, that was amazingly ridiculous.

But it doesn't support multitasking >:-\

To the people already complaining.. Boo Freaking hoo.. This is the first release! and By Microsoft!!! A company you would not of expected to jump onto the appstore development on a compeating device.. So relax your dacks.. more features come in time.
