Oggl Hipstamatic coming to Windows Phone, offers uploading to Instagram [Update]

Nokia has just announced at their London event that Hipstamatic from Oggl, the popular photo app, will be coming to Windows Phone this summer. The app offers similar functionality to Instagram and has proven to be quite popular on iOS, the only other platform that it's available on. It's not yet clear if this app will be available on all Windows Phones or if it's a Lumia exclusive.

The app will offer additional filters that users will be able to buy and download directly from within the app. Another aspect that's interesting is that Hipstamatic has official support to upload users' photos directly to Instagram. So while many folks might be disappointed by the absence of the official Instagram app they will still be able to actually upload and access Instagram photos.

Editor's note: This article was updated to reflect the fact that Oggl Hipstamatic will be a Nokia Lumia exclusive app

This is amazing news. I enjoy hipstamatic and was positive this wouldn't be on WP. It's not even on Android! Great news.

I saw someone using this to try and take photos at a concert. I just honestly couldn't fathom why you'd want to view on a 1 inch square box when you have a 4.3 inch screen. Moreover, take a decent image, and if you want to edit it to be a low quality hipster shot later, then do that!?

That said, I hate tossers who film concerts on their phones. Get that out of my freaking way!

Yup, idiots also. I will point out - I am hypocritical - I've taken snaps at gigs, but not filmed and entire sodding concert!

It's even worse when people film with tablets... talk about blocking my view. Not sure what exactly they plan to do with all that footage.

What about the people who take pictures of their food?

Yesterday, my food was photographed, why?, i dunno, may be im too old to understand it.

No one cares. The hipster obsession with filtered photos and continual bashing of Windows Phone lacking Instagram isnt going to change thanks to the morons at places like the verge. For normal people Nokia's innovative camera apps are far more exciting. When they said they were doing a live demo of action shot I thought it would go horribly wrong, but it worked incredibly well and was really fast too.

Instagram isn't hipster. Even my mom is there. And 100 million other users. It's time to stop calling Instagram being for hipsters. It's popular because 1) it offers quick and easy uploads to a social network dedicated to photos without other cruft and 2) it has so many users that someone's friends are likely already there. You don't go there to be "hipster", lol. Go buy The Impossible Project film or something for that...

Anything that the masses prefer is labeled as hipster these days, which is so far from what it originally was.

May as well say that Android and Windows are only for hipsters too then.
