OnePlus 2 gets permanent price cut; 64GB model now costs $349

Last month, OnePlus confirmed that it was withdrawing the 16GB model of its flagship handset from sale in North America and Europe.

The removal of the OnePlus 2 16GB version - which was priced at $329 USD in the United States, $409 CAD in Canada, £239 GBP in the UK, and €339 EUR across Europe - left buyers intending to purchase the device with just one option: the 64GB model, for $389 USD / $479 CAD / £289 GBP / €399 EUR.

But today, the company announced that it is introducing a permanent price cut on the 64GB OnePlus 2:

As the cost to produce a OnePlus 2 device has never been lower, we believe this is the right time to introduce the next big change. We believe great things should be shared.

We learned a lot from our first flagship phone. The invite system helped get the OnePlus 2 off the ground, and now our operations have scaled up to the Goldilocks principle of just right. So, why not let our fans join us in celebrating the fruits of our labor? The OnePlus 2 now starts at $349, forever.

Along with its price cut in the US, the OnePlus 2 has seen reductions in other markets too, falling to $449 CAD / £249 GBP / €345 EUR.

The company is going even further, promising that anyone who has purchased the OnePlus 2 in the last fifteen days will get a refund for the difference between what they paid and the new lower price of the handset.

On top of the price cut, OnePlus has added another sweetener to the deal:

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we have prepared a few more offers for your enjoyment. To kick things off, anyone purchasing one of our devices will receive a free StyleSwap Cover or OnePlus X Case.

And if you're worried that you don't have an invite to buy the device, you don't need to be - OnePlus dropped the invite requirement for the 2 back in December, and did the same for the OnePlus X last month.
