Opera 10.53 released for Windows and Mac - fixes critical security vulnerability

Hot on the heels of the release of Opera 10.52 for Windows and Mac OS X, Opera Software released a minor update to their browser to their FTP servers. Opera 10.53 fixes the vulnerability reported in Secunia Advisory SA39590. The vulnerability described on the page is as follows:

"The vulnerability is caused due to an error when e.g. continuously writing content to a page using document.write() and results in a function call using uninitialised memory when a user visits a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code."

While the vulnerability affects only Windows, the 10.53 update does contain a fix to potential freezes on Google Maps. According to an Opera Software employee, the official release is tomorrow, and the auto-updater will begin to push out the update to users.
