Origin PC taking orders for Windows 8 PCs

If you absolutely, positively, have to be one of the first to get a PC that has Windows 8 installed inside but don't want to go to a physical store, you can go ahead and pre-order a Windows 8 PC right now from the folks at Origin PC.

The company announced today that people who want to get a Windows 8-based PC from them that will ship to them on the Windows 8 launch date on October 26th, they can now configure and order their PC now from their website. Origin will go ahead and start building the Windows 8-based desktop or notebook well ahead of the launch date.

In a statement, Origin PC CEO Kevin Wasielewski said:

Big launches are typically structured in a way where consumers have to wait for a specific date and then suffer through hassles including long lines, delays, and/or backlogs. ORIGIN PC is offering this fantastic opportunity for our customers to avoid these hassles by placing custom PC orders with Windows 8 today and being one of the first to start shipping on October 26th.

It's likely that other PC makers will also offer to start building Windows 8-based products before the official October 26th launch date.

Are long lines, delays and backlogs expected for the Win8 launch?

Long lines are doubtful, why would anyone want to wait in line when they can order this stuff online?!

We don't know the pricing for the OS (not the upgrade price) and price and availability of the various Win8 laptops/tablets so we can't know if we are to expect any delays

for surface maybe specially here in houston where there is only one microsoft store for such a big city. I will be one of those in the line.

Surprised more companies haven't been taking orders for Windows 8 PCs already, suppose a lot of them are doing upgrade offers though.

Also inb4 "waaahhhh I hate Windows 8 *throws toys out of pram* and so should everyone else."
