I stopped using PSP after version 7... verions 8 onwards turned into slow loading bloaty crap, then they were taken over by Corel, a company I dislike for other reasons I don't want to go into here... I'll stick with 7 for my very minor editing needs I think.

You got that right. I last used any PSP at version 7 also. Reminds me of Nero and how they bloated that program to death!!

I thought I was the only one that stuck with PSP 7

Now I don't feel goofy for having PSP 7 icon next to Photoshop CS2 icon on my desktop :cheeky:

That's true though. At version 8 it got a little slow. When Corel took over I thought I'd try it out to see if maybe they made it any better. They made it even more slower and added some bloat.

Watch yourself with this one - the 11.11 update over a standard 11.00 version puts a program into your system services called 'PSIControl.exe' (supposed to be something to do with PSI Licensing controller???).

If you disable the service, PSP won't even run (christ, PS-CS2 doesn't even do strange things like this...)!

hmm I was pretty sure Photoshop used a licensing server that runs as a service.

it's not like it matters, I usually have two different licensing servers running due to software, and they don't take any resources, heck the only time they do anythign is when an app is started pretty much, other than that they just sit there waiting for calls.

the addition of a licesning servers is at the bottom of the reason for not using PSP since it was taken over by Corel whopo turned this once decent app into utter crap. heck in certain areas it used to be better than PS but... They don't even inlcude the one thing that was rgeat with PS anymore(it's absolutely wonderful screen capture program, thankfully there is FastStones capture prog now wich comes close but still not quite as good)
