Patched Android 4.3 update rollout resumes for Samsung Galaxy S4 users

Android 4.3 Jellybean has been nothing but a headache for Samsung and its partners. This iteration of Google’s OS is once again available for download on Samsung devices and hopefully it won’t get pulled again.

Many Samsung devices had stability issues with the Android 4.3 update including the Galaxy S III and the company’s flagship, the Galaxy S4. The issues were so bad that the update was finally pulled from the servers while Samsung worked on a patch to fix the issues.

And now it finally looks like the update is ready to be rolled out again for Galaxy S4 owners. After initially being confirmed by AT&T for their own customers, S4 owners in Europe are now reporting seeing the update as available.

So far it seems to only be available on Kies, but if you don’t mind waiting a few days it should show up as an over-the-air update in no time. Android 4.3 itself brings only minor changes but the added features from Samsung, including Galaxy Gear support and Touchwiz updates, make this version of Jellybean an important update.

There’s no word on when the update might resume for the rest of Samsung’s Galaxy line but hopefully it won’t be too long now.

hey, at least you guys are getting updates, my phone, huawei ascend p1 probably wont get an update for another year, and ive never had an update

my old phone - samsung galaxy pocket finally got a notification for update and when installing the update, it fails every time on 25%

have you changed any system files? Rooted and maybe deleted/froze something? Restore to stock using odin, then try applying the update.

What Samsung is doing is practically that, live testing the update without the users' knowledge. That or their QA team really needs to do a better job.

Heh, and I've just seen on XDA Developers that the 4.4 Google Edition ROM is ready for the S4. As I'm already on 4.3, I think I know what I'll be doing over the weekend.

It's only when I install a non-Sense ROM that I realise how many Sense tweaks I miss. I always end up going back.

There was only one thing that didn't work quite like with Samsung, and that was the notification toggles. But I found Toucher Pro over the weekend and that works as a pretty good substitute. It even provides me with a bit of extra functionality.
