Phil Spencer: "I'm not a big fan of the Xbox One and a half"

There have been growing rumors that Sony is working on a 'PlayStation 4.5' which is alleged to have a better GPU and an improved processor to support 4K games. While these rumors have not been officially confirmed as of yet, questions are already being asked of Xbox chief Phil Spencer if Microsoft's console plans to go down the same path. Spencer has quickly dismissed the idea, saying that he's "not a big fan of the Xbox One and a half".

Phil Spencer went on to state that while he does not possess inside knowledge of Sony's console upgrade plans, he can assure fans that Microsoft does not intend to release an 'Xbox 1.5'. Spencer said:

I'm not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we're going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers. [...] For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it's reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people--an upgrade.

While this statement essentially squashes any rumors of an Xbox 1.5 for the time being, it is important to note that Spencer has previously hinted at Microsoft exploring possible options for hardware upgrades without pushing an entire new generation of consoles.
