For my software engineering class, just last week we did an assignment to create albums and upload them using Picasa. We are studying design and such and had to evaluate this software. I found so many things wrong with this program.

- It forces you to scan your entire drive, or you documents folder and there is no way to not do either. I have pictures in many folders which I don't want scanned.

- The entire program organizes everything by dates. In the side bar, everything is sorted by year. Created albums are sorted by creation date. Main display is organized by year. I like things organized by name, not by time. I also found no way to change this behavior.

- Telling the program to stop watching folders turns on the Hidden property of the folder and files. I had to manually go and change the Hidden properties of almost every folder it scanned that I told it not to show.

- Uploading files to Picasa Web also was a pain in the ass. For every single file, there was a connection error. I had to click the Retry Now button for every picture. I had over 100 pictures to upload. It's a good thing I noticed these connection errors because it wanted to wait about 2 minutes before retrying. If I didn't notice it, uploading would have taken a very long time to complete.

These are just some of the more annoying problems I found in Picasa. I used to use Picasa a long time ago. Back then, it didn't have these problems and was actually pretty good. However, I find Picasa to now be utter garbage.

Took me 20 seconds to find the option.

go to View > Folder View > "sort by creation date"/"sort by recent changes"/"sort by name"/"sort by size"

To sort within a folder (not the sidebar) just right click in the folder and again choose "sort by"

Tools > Folder Manager

As far as I can see this allows you to remove folders. Also allows you to scan only once or every time.

Anyway I spent 30seconds looking for each of those functions. I've used this program for about 5mins previously and this is an older install of the program (not the one above).

Unless the functionality doesnt do as it says in the program then I can only assume those features are there. The sort by one works at least.
