Playstation Network launches Welcome Back program

Sony has finally launched the compensation program for its Playstation Network users, over a month after the shutdown of the network and nearly three weeks after the network started to be restored to most parts of the world. The Playstation blog web site has all of the details for Playstation Network users who have been waiting patiently for the Welcome Back program to kick in after Sony first announced the compensation plans about a month ago.

US Playstation 3 users who signed up for PSN before April 20, the start of the outage caused by a cyber attacks, can now head to the Welcome Back section of the restored Playstation Store and pick two free games from the following list: Dead Nation, inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD + Fury expansion. PSP owners can now head to the PSN's Playstation Store and select two free games from the following list: LittleBigPlanet (PSP), ModNation Racers (PSP), Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation.

PSN PS3 owners can now also get 30 three days of the premium Playstation Plus subscription service, again by going to the Welcome Back section of the Playstation Store and clicking on the PlayStation Plus: 30 Days Free section. This free offer will not auto renew and will simple expire when the 30 free days are up. Current Playstation Plus users will get 60 free days of the service Current Music Unlimited Premium subscribers get 30 free days of the service. Playstation Home users will also get access to 100 free virtual items. Finally this weekend all Playstation Network users will be able to get a section of movie downloads for free rentals this weekend.
