Playstation Plus subscribers getting free games and discounts again

Now that the Playstation Store has been restored, subscribers for the premium Playstation Plus service will be able to download free games and get discounts on other games and DLC packs. Plus users haven't been able to access the service due to the cyber attacks that brought down the Playstation Network on April 20 . The official Playstation blog web site has details of the first two updates for Playstation Plus users. The first is scheduled to launch today while another update will be made on June 7. Today brings a full game trial for EA Sports MMA Live while the MAG Escalation DLC Mission Pack is also free for Playstation Plus users. Other DLC packs and games like Smash Cars and Worms will get discounts.

On June 7, Playstation Plus owners will get the PS1 game Lilo & Stitch for free while they will also get discounts on other games including the first two games in the Deathspank series. On June 9, Playstation Plus owners will get a full game trial for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.

Sony previously announced that non Playstation Plus subscribers would get 30 free days to use the service as part of the "Welcome Back" package of compensation. So far that "Welcome back" service has yet to be launched. Sony also announced that all Playstation Network users would get two free downloadable PS3 games and two free downloadable PSP games as well but again that compensation deal has yet to be launched.

After signing on PSN plus I thought it was better than what Xlive users are getting but after looking at the free content and discount, I have to say it is more or less the same if not only a tiny bit better considering the avatars/themes they give for free which Xlive does not but only on very occassions and those are time limited.

So many errors on the PSN now. Keep getting 2-3 errors for every option I choose in the store.

No doubt due to influx of people trying get their free stuff, it is all up for 30 days, so if there isn't a rush to get it now if you can't get through.

My 2 options for downloads have just vanished after I got an error and re-tried a few times. I suggest everyone wait a few days because it's broken for many which is pretty frustrating!!!

On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB
Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List
Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” from the list of services displayed
Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”

^^^ THIS WORKS ^^^ Just bolding for some emphasis on those experiencing issues.

Though, still getting a lot of errors at the moment anyway, so leaving it alone for now.

Still nothing for non-plus subs. Thanks Sony! PS - I'll never subscribe to your plus service now anyway.

You obviously haven't read the details of it all then. All non-Plus subcribers get two free games from a choice of five, they get PlayStation Plus free for 30 days, and they're getting two full games, one PS1 game, and an old arcade game, as well as a couple of free dynamic themes, and five free avatars.

Congrats on not reading, good job there.

Who didn't read? ROFL "Still nothing for non-plus subs". Now, since this is apparently too difficult for either of you, lemme help:

Now, read what I wrote (actually read it this time).

Congrats to you for not reading enough to accuse someone of not reading...tool

I've read it all. Over and over. Been following the blog since PSN went down in April. I know full well what the dealio is. Maybe you should actually read something yourself before opening your piehole k?

Again, well done, it has launched, and a few hours ago
All the free games and 30 days of plus are all on the store for non-+ subscribers.

Thanks for playing though, you obviously aren't reading enough and the writer isn't either seeing as his facts were wrong when he and you posted.

You again? Why such anger?

Ah, I have been meaning to get the Deathspank games. Guess I will hold off for a few days.

If you haven't played either, I'd recommend the 2nd over the 1st by a large margin. STEEEEEVE!!!!
