Preview: Painkiller: Battle Out Of Hell

One of the more interesting aspects of People Can Fly's debut FPS was the fact that every level had a completely unique look and atmosphere, representing different versions of Hell. For those that couldn't get enough of the game's fast-paced action, there's a new expansion on the way, and the single player promises to continue the ambitious aim of not reusing the same textures or enemies.

The story in Battle Out Of Hell is a direct continuation of Daniel's journey through Hell, and while the expansion won't be inherently more difficult than the core game, it will waste no time in throwing you in the thick of the action. Needless to say the Stalingrad level had a World War II theme, and featured heavily damaged and burning buildings, and Nazi and Russian soldiers waging an eternal war.
