Project Gotham Racing 5 could be 'next Xbox' launch game

While Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny anything surrounding the launch of an upcoming new Xbox game console, the general consensus is that the company will indeed release a "next Xbox" hardware product sometime before the end of 2013. But which games will be released alongside the new Xbox?

This week, rumors hit the Internet that one of the 'next Xbox' launch games will be Project Gotham Racing 5, a new entry in the Xbox exclusive arcade racing game series. The original Project Gotham Racing was a launch title for the first Xbox in 2001, and Project Gotham Racing 3 was an Xbox 360 launch title in 2005

All four previous PGR games were developed by UK-based Bizarre Creations; however, that team is no more as the developer was shut down by its owners at Activision in early 2011. That said, a team made up in part of ex-Bizarre Creations team members formed a new studio called Lucid Games soon afterward.

It is that team that is making Project Gotham Racing 5 for Microsoft, at least according to the claim by STFUandplay.com, via unnamed sources. The Lucid Games website seems to have posted a teaser of a upcoming racing game announcement in 2013 with the image above.
