Psst...here's how to get your Windows 7 beta key

Update: Microsoft has now re-opened the beta officially at this link.

Thanks to our ever wonderful forum posters who are currently discussing the Windows 7 beta and Helmers Blog we now know a method of acquiring an official Windows 7 beta key.

We have posted direct links to the downloads earlier today:

Download: Windows 7 x86 (32bit) and x64 (64 bit) If you have issues with the direct links try via the Akamai Java download manager 32bit and 64bit, you will need to copy and paste the links into a new window otherwise you'll get redirected to the Windows 7 home page.

Here's the steps for a key:

  1. Visit TechNet Downloads, sign in at the top right and let the page load
  2. Within the same window copy and paste "https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/scripts/gcs.aspx?Product=tn-win7-64-ww&LCID=1033" into the address bar or "https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/scripts/gcs.aspx?Product=tn-win7-32-ww&LCID=1033" (64bit key but will work on 32 too, if you get an error refresh a few times)...enjoy the result below (32 bit link seems to work better), whilst stocks last. If you are still having issues try clearing your temp files and deleting all cookies.
Update: Neowin member drewh suggests using check4change Firefox addon too, you can find his method here.

According to Microsoft there are 2.5 million keys to go around worldwide so plenty in other words. Microsoft is also providing a QFE patch for the MP3 corruption issues that have plagued build 7000, this should be online shortly as KB961367. It's extremely important you apply this patch as you may lose parts of your MP3s if the patch is not applied. 32bit and 64bit patches are now available.

I found these direct links.
I couldn't get them to download on my XP Pro, but worked fine on my Vista laptop (go figure)
32 bit downloaded in 25 minutes, 64 bit in 39 minutes. (1800 KB/s)

I don't remember where I found the keys, but that site indicated Microsoft is just cycling through these few keys for all downloads. It also indicated, and this short list of keys seems to support, that you can use one key for as many installations as you want.

Hope this info makes your life and download easier than what I went through.

ISO for Windows 7 Beta 32-bit (English):

ISO for Windows 7 Beta 64-bit (English):
http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/3...XFRE_EN_DVD.ISO

Its true MS is now just using 10 non-unique keys for all Windows 7 installations (5 for each version).

Hey NeonShark,

Could you hook a brother up and let me use one of the keys you were able to get? Attempting the above has not been successful.

simon@solidnets.com

thanks mucho!

How many other people have had a hard time downloading the 64bit version? I had little problem with the x86 version. When it comes to the x64 version, I have had the connection reset eight times. Three of those at 99%. The ISO itself downloads at a good rate... takes about twenty-five minutes to get to 99% and than is just dropped. I am at a loss.

After going through 13 hrs of trial and error to download Windows 7, I finally managed to get the key.
great!
but when installing (as an upgrade in English), I could not do it, because it says that the windows Vista installed in my computer is in a different language.
can anyone help me to find out how can I get to know in which language is my Windows Vista installed in my computer, and if I can change it into English ?
I thought it was installed in English.
Is there a Windows 7 Spanish version?
Thanks
Antonio

I've got a fair few W7 serials for both 32 and 64bit

Well after so many tries i finally got my windows 7 beta and the product key i install it on a virtual machine is going great i can even use my internet on it

Oops!

I left check4change doing 5x 32-bit and 5x 64-bit, forgot about it and went out.

Now got 5 of both, verified the 64 link and got yet another XD

If anyone has the same problem send a PM there's no way I can use all of them.
Edit: Off to bed - If it's more than a few hours after this post, don't bother, as it's a first come first served thing and people are not wasting any time asking for keys - don't want a flooded inbox

i used FF3 to download the ISO, and get the 32-bit key + 64-bit key... dunno why it wouldn't work for everyone else?

because earlier the system gave unique keys and was hosed, and , now it's just 10 keys or so.

oh okay, thanks for clarifying that.

MSSE said,
why so happy about getting keys, it's all 5 for 32 bit and 3 for 64 bit ,so nothing special !

There is actually 5 for 32-bit and 5 for 64-bit.

There is only 10 unique keys out there.

i cant even download the beta thru TechNet it just stays on the darn bubble and thru here the 32-bit ends around 500 mb of download

Yup.. mine goes for 250 then kills.. don't understand that. Gotta be MS because I can download a full iso of fedora and no issues.

I downloaded the 32-bit version via the link on this page, and found that trying to obtain a key via Firefox was futile - I kept getting error pages and live searches. So I switched over to IE, pasted in the appropriate URL (again, listed at the top of this page), and instantly received my 32-bit key. I usually avoid IE like the plague, but I do use it when it seems something isnt rendering correctly in Firefox, and seeing that it was a Microsoft site that was giving me a hassle it surprises me not at all that IE worked and FF didnt, hehe. I thought I should share this info in order to perhaps help someone else who's having problems obtaining a key.

I'm going to download the 64-bit version and grab a key for it too. Thanks very much for making this info and these links available, and for all the advice and helpful suggestions!

Edit: Just to verify - I just now did the same process for a 64-bit key, and again it worked instantly in IE but tripped me to an error page/live search in Firefox. No trouble at all in IE.

Ok i have a problem when i go here https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/pr...us/default.aspx and click to download on the page that opens nothing happends, i already install the add on thing that came up the first time, and what it does is that it stays on the page for like 5secs and then goes back to the last page....

and if i try the direct links after the file is aroud 500mb downloaded it stops downloading i have internet explorer8 beta....

i try from the direct link whith the normail downloader from ie and after around 500mb it closes and with internet download manager it just stops and says receiving data but nothing more happends

someone pleas help me i want this beta :'D

Set check4change to do it all overnight with no luck.

Came back to the computer a few minutes ago and with one copy n paste... voila. 32 bit key and I'm away =D

Anyone have an idea on why the download manager wont start for me? When I get my key, if i click on "download" it goes to the next page talking about the download manager, I install it, and then nothing else happens, it goes back to the cd key page, so i click on download again and then it just sits at the download page (talking about the download manager) and then it goes back to the cd key page.....

Have you tried minimizing the browser. Mine didn't show up in the foreground.

I guess people get cracked out on getting as many as they can to test all their machines in the desperate fear that there wont be enought tho go around.

I myself got one for my 32bit machine and one for my 64bit machine and my flat mate just got one 32bit key for his setup.

Only problem i'm having is getting a 32bit download with getting a timeout error on the download

Thanks to the posts here I just got my key :)

One thing I don't understand though is why people are getting large numbers of keys. To my mind thats a bit selfish.

I have many of the same keys as mentioned before. Had no idea MS was duplicating keys so by the time I install all my keys will be useless.

Erikas said,

They have unlimited activations so why will they be useless?

hi

i got keys on the first try. seems to be working fine. downloading at 300-500Kbps.

with these keys, is there a time bomb for the beta. i am assuming it is 180 days, but i do not see any information. it also seems to be running ok in a virtualbox vm.

Why are all of the keys I got from doing this the same as the ligit one I just got from the offical beta page?
Anyone else getting all the same old 10 beta keys from the offical web page?
Why are all of the keys the same for everyone?

So finally with gr8 help of neowin.net I got key and currently downloading ISO. Will Windows 7 will run efficiently on my Notebook with following configuration
HP Compaq Presario V3018TU Notebook PC
Intel Core Solo 1.86GHz processor 667FSB,2MB L2 cache
DDR2 2GB 667MHz RAM
120GB SATA HDD
Intel 945GM Express Chipset
Onboard Graphics
14.1" Widescreen 1200x800
Intel 3945ABG Wireless LAN
10/100 Ethernet
DVD/CD RW Drive

I am currently using Windows Vista Home Premium but not efficiently. It is not to speedy also not to slow, its just okay. So please tell what about Windows 7

Worked pretty fine this morning for me, no need for multiple refreshs. Got 2 keys (1 for 64 and 1 for 32) and the downloads without a hitch. I think they managed to put up the show at least...

Worked for me for both 32-bit and 64-bit on first tries.. wow. I tried last night like 40 times with no avail.

Thanks

Now to get the download to work..

Method for receiving KEY just worked for me. It would not work at all last night, and today it worked first try in IE8 within Windows 7.

I got the keys, and the 64bit download. The x86 stops anywhere from 408 megs to 650 megs. I have been trying to download it since last night and different machines and via IE and FireFox. Is anyone having the same issues?

Ive been having that issue as well, can you still download using the java downloader? Thats usually pretty stable

During the registration people have to choose what type of user they are in a dropdown list it has about 4 technical type of user and 1 for enthusiast/consumer in the list. I think the serial key is tied to the different type of user group and for people who registered but did not get a chance to see the serial key.

For people whos getting the serial key today did you guys register yesterday morning but never got to see the serial key?

This method is still working, I used Firefox with the Check4Change extension. Had three tabs refreshing and got three different keys at the same time! Just keep trying, it took about 15 minutes!

I got a 32bit key just a few minutes ago..so it seems like the method is working again.

**edted to add that from reading other forums...these keys are just being duplicated**

This should be right I hope:

Well assuming you don't have more than 1 or 2 PCs where you want to try the beta maybe you should stop getting more keys, there's lots of people who might want to try windows 7 and wont be able to, its just a wast of keys.

Mine are different.

Got an 64-bit key last night without check4change, and got a 32-bit key this morning with it (same key on 4 tabs!)

the_guy

Yep i got 2 keys last night and none of them have been mention here.

But Microsoft instead of keep showing error page, got a list of 10 keys available.

Question is now, Are all those keys being able to activate or not?

Man I can get to the license info and serial but when I try to download it gets to about 250mb and completely stops. This is frustrating. Anyone else out there having the same issue?

No, it was correct. It was just for the 64bit version. I believe you can use a x64 key with both versions. I really doesn't matter, however. These keys are not going to be of much help beyond keeping the beta open for more than 30 days.

yep those keys are identical to the ones i have.

i have one 64 and one 32 bit.

i wasnt one of those refresh whores who were bashing the server just to get a damn key.

those keys might not work for submitting bugs as when a user registers to download the .iso they would have been given a key that would be linked to their liveID .

ok i now have 2 64bit and 2 32bit keys.

anyone willing to compare? i've removed the end of my keys but is anyone else getting the same starting sequence?

64bit JYDV8-H8VXG-74RPT-6BJPB-XXXXX
64bit D9RHV-JG8XC-C77H2-3YF6D-XXXXX
32bit 6JKV2-QPB8H-RQ893-FW7TM-XXXXX
32bit GG4MQ-MGK72-HVXFW-KHCRF-XXXXX

Yep...Those are the same ones I received...I wonder what the hell is going on. The people I've sent links to are getting those exact one...I believe there are 5 of them for each version (64 and 32 bit). Do they work?

What gives you the idea that the keys are all the same?? They aren't. I got 10 unique keys (5 each for 32-bit and 64-bit) and then they start repeating for my user ID. I could probably sign in with my wife's ID and get another 10, but they would be different.

I FINALLY got a key myself!! :D

I was getting really frustrated. Before breakfast (9:30AM here right now), I had tried several times and kept getting the 'technical difficulties' message. But just kept retrying. After I got back from breakfast, though, I was getting the 'link does not exist' and it redirected me to another page outside Technet - grrr! :P So I had to get back to Technet and enter the provided link again. But this just kept happening over and over, and I was about ready to give up.

I was loathe to clear caches, cookies, and stuff. So I went into a virtual machine I had running, opened the browser, logged into Technet, and entered the 32-bit link. Got it the first time - I was shocked! I quickly saved it - the key in a text file, and the whole web page using Firefox's Save Page As (Web Page, complete) option - just in case there was additional info on the page that I needed.

So I will add my voice to the others who got a key to say that it does work - eventually!!

for those still having issues getting keys, they should be up now
Restarting my computer for some reason helped, got mine the first try

I had given up last night and closed Firefox. Thank goodness I had saved my tabs because when I got up this morning, I opened Firefox and immediately got my keys!! 5 each for 32-bit and 64-bit.

At 10:00am, EST, in the U.S., the links for the keys started working. I downloaded one of each with no problems, sent the links to some friends, and they got theirs also. WOOHOO!!!

I got it this morning! Is there any links to a faster download? I'm getting such poor speeds.

Edit: Been playing with it. I got 6 keys and now I'm getting the same ones over and over

Pick it up via a torrent or newsgroups, just be sure to read the description to make sure it is an untouched image of build 7000.

Wow, Well i gotta say this, i thought aload of people was just talking rubbish, but after 10mins i got a key! Didnt think i'd get one after 6hours of pure refreshing last night! But went to bed woke up, wacked c4c on and i got it, so it defo works for people who think this is not real!

Thanks for the info people!

In the UK also, Firefox & check4change on 5seconds!

Scoop............ The keys released by both link are not unique.

On another forum 2 people posted 3 keys each. Off those keys 2 were the same. So 4 different keys and i did already got those 4 from the links myself.

FInally I got it! I refreshed for 4 hours then gave up. I came back after eating and wow first refresh gave me a key!

Check4Change was a god send. Been trying for about 4 hours for a key. Just activated fine. As lots of others are saying, just keep refreshing, eventually it will work. Won't surprise me if they extend the amount of beta keys available after the interest thats been shown. Limiting their keys seems to be limiting their ability to recieve more bug reports etc... strange

LOL ok nevermind. I just start the process again and opened one tab. Linked to the page and BAM a key popped up first try. LOL Kills me... all night 10 tabs, nothing. Try again in the morning, first tab BAM! LOL

Maybe perseverance is the key to a key LOL

For me it worked right away, I signed into TechNet in IE7 and copied and pasted the links and worked right away with no messing about

me too. tried last night for hours and nothing.

just signed in with IE8 right this minute and first go i was able to get both a 64bit and then a 32bit key.

seems they're getting it sorted.

I still get nothing but the white screen, I've refreshed hundreds of times... nothing but white screen... I've tried using Firefox and IE7, nothing but white screen... Tried using the 32bit and 64 bit key links... nothing but white screen...

This is the biggest joke played on us yet by Microsoft. What a crock of sh*t.

Just worked for me. The Check4Change plugin was a lifesaver. Tried refresh all night and never worked, but C4C did. FYI, the beta key works for build 6956 as well if you don't want to install the beta and wait for the RC.

Can one of you lucky multi key folks please send email me a key? I have been doing this for hours with no luck. I would very much appreciate it. Thanks

NEVERMIND!!! I FINALLY GOT ONE!!

Thanks to the original poster that recommended Check4Change.

Took less than 20 seconds.

I set it to check every 2 seconds!

Go my key.

It's 48xxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxx4M

Someone asked if they're all the same.

Well they're not, as I got a different one just by navigating to the same page.

7Xxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxH3

Yes, those are the two I got for 64 bit.

I got the first one, then closed FF, opened it and got the second one.

I just opened FF again (at the reg page) and got the first keys again.

Tried my first time at 11:20cst with ie7. Got a key the first time. In fact, i got the same 7X key you guys got. They just handing out the same key now?

Thanks everyone! Success at PT 07:00
It took me 2.5 hrs to get the key. I use 15 tabs in firefox and refresh it for 5 secs.
I'm from HK

dave164 said,
Did anyone realise if you keep refreshing you dont always get new keys.

They repeat.

Yeah, it appears that you get at most 5 different keys per version (32-bit or 64-bit) with a given user ID.

Finally got my 32-bit key. Didn't take as long as the 64-bit. I used c4c for both. I downloaded the ISOs from a direct link using a different PC.

Thanks to neowin.com, sweetcaddy, and all others who gave the c4c tip!! Have a nice day!

Works. With that firefox addon. Got 2 64-BIT key's and 2 32-BIT key's.

I had 3 tabs open for 64-BIT and 3 tabs for 32-BIT

Just got my keys on the first try for 32 and 64 bit
Download ends early for 32bit which is odd
But 64 bit is downloading and fast, man I love my schools internet downloading at 6 megs a second

yeah thats been happening to me too.

got 2 keys about 10 mins ago. was using FF & C4C in 2 tabs @ 2 sec for almost 45 mins with no luck. logged out, cleared cache and cookies this time and got keys within 5 minutes.

i think they have two I was using multiple tabs with c4c and now i have 5 different keys. I'm really sorry I will give them away later.

I was just able to get a key using Check4Change in Firefox using a 1 minute interval. Had issues late last night after finding this post. If you refresh too often or occasionally you'll get redirected to a different page with search results. Just got back and fire it up again. Can't exactly say how much time I put into this between last night and this morning. At least an hour when I reattempted this morning.

Yay! after nearly 3 hours using c4c, 3 tabs generated 3 unique keys :)

Edit: yep, looks like the server's been fixed as it works every time now.

Got it as well
Portugal - about 2 hours using 5 tabs with C4C, with intervals from 2-5 seconds.

Thanks for the great tip!

I've got my key, but I cannot change my key in Windows itself.

It says "Windows cannot find C:Windows\system32\slui.exe."

Edit: Nevermind, got a backup of it.

i was using 20 tabs at 1 minute refresh and they all came back at once and i have at least 5 different keys. is it official or something?

Every1 skeptical of this method plz have faith, I live in australia and after roughly 1hr 45mins and 6 tab 2sec refreshes I was finally rewarded with a key. Keep faith guys.

To all those farming product keys: you're annoying the hell out of the internet. Go away.

32 bit, i suppose?
Because probably most of the people are trying to download 32 bit; i had some problem too (no problem with 64 bit).

When the key pops up actually, will C4C reload the page again or will it wait there

It will stop reloading and highlight the tab in red..

C4C won't work for me since the beta key links route to the front page now. Anyone got a work around for that?

Correction, it's a white page now and you can't select anything for c4c to work.

Works fine using CFC addon in Firefox....One browser on each of 2 monitors...10 tabs per browser...5 came up almost at the same time...ALL the same number of course... had no luck until I used the clear private data option in FF and cleared cookies........also used the > allow navigating away from monitoring page< in CFC...stopped the page where it was at and uncheck the Don't stop monitoring option or it can refresh and you will lose it...Thanks everybody for all the good info...just takes determination and persistance

UK - 3 1/2 Hours
Firefox C4C four tabs at 2 seconds

drewh method dose work you just have to wait for MS

Now I have my code time to down load the iso

You guys I'v been trying since 11 oclock last night. It is now 9:23 in the morning. Does anyone have an extra product key please. MY fingers are about ready to fall off, and my F5 key broke an hour ago.

Has anyone stopped to think of how badly we're exascerbating the problem by each querying the MS Servers hundreds of times a minute!? Lol... ah well, I have C4C running too.. us humans are very selfish :D

Chris

Can't blame are nature! Btw I got my key after hours of trying(Not really hours more like 2 hours here, then I just refresed ever time I died on COD4 {12 tabs IE In window mode)

i'm still getting blank pages I've tried it in both Firefox & IE. I go to the technet page, click on sign in, a popup window appears in which i put my email and password, the popup closes and the technet page reloads. I open a new tab, paste the link, and then i get a blank page.

4 hours of c4c with 5 tabs trying for x64 key - no luck. ):
gonna try for another hour. but if only someone would be kind enough to give me that key... (:

Finally got as 64bit key.... after only 4 hours...

just wanted to double check tho that the 64 bit key will work with 32 bit install....???

Just got mine in Australia. c4c checking at 2 second intervals in 10 tabs in Firefox.. didn't clear cache etc. Took 1 hour.

Good luck!

woot! Just got my key using c4c. Oddly it did not work the whole day when I was using Firefox on Mac. When I switched over to Firefox on XP, it worked in 30 mins..

c4c was set to 5 secs

I am getting:

Error

The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day.

??

Got Windows 7 Beta 32-bit Product Key a moment ago. 15:03 EST
IE 7, cache and cookies cleared. No luck with firefox.
I was getting redirected to to the Windows 7 page until I signed in with another live account.

ive been trying for the last 2 hours, 5 tabs opens with a 2 second refresh on check4change, still nothing. Fingers crossed

hi i am doing exactly what it says here i am using both firefox and ie 8 and chrome please if you have another key i would be very great ful so tired

1. Use Firefox. Add the "check4change" add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ , search for check4change and then click "Add to Firefox". Restart as required by clicking restart button.)
2. Open TechNet page per link and login using your hotmail/passport account details.
3. Open new tab, and go to https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/sc...w&LCID=1033 (64-bit link). The page with "Error... The site is currently experiencing technical....." should appear.
4. Highlight any wording, e.g. "The site is currently", right click and choose Check4Change, then Custom... Set refresh interval between 2-10 seconds (I put 2 seconds), click "Bring to Front" under Notifications, and also click "Allow navigating away from a monitored page" under Problem Solvers". Click Ok.
5. The page will keep refreshing every few seconds until a change is noticed.

6. Repeat steps 3-4 for as many tabs as you want - around 5 seemed to be right. Too many is being selfish and will slow things down anyway, and too few will take longer. Good luck!

hi all well i am now so tired i have done the check for change now for the last 17 hrs and s till i havent been able to get a key pls could someone send me a serial key those people that have more than one i would be very greatful please please pm me with a serail key i am soooo tired

bungerloo

hehe yeh... maybe Bill's in his Foundation office? or cellar at home? (oh wait, he might have about 100 cellars in that house).

well I got it and I'm in Australia. Didnt someone say they got it and were in the UK?

Sometimes it might take more than an hour... just leave it going (if using check4change) and go do something else or whatever. Its like we keep putting in lotto tickets..... one of them will win

I left like 7 or 8 tabs refreshing w/check4change and finally went to sleep at 2:00PT. Woke up a few minutes ago (5:15PT) to check and four of them had the 64-bit product key waiting for me (all the same key, of course). I'm not doing the "check4change" dance with 32-bit.

Thanks to all who suggested check4change!!

Hi everyone,
I would like to know that which country are the successfully download from?
I've been refresh for an hour, opened 15 tabs but still no luck....:-(
I've been played with MS for a day!

I would just like to add another point to drewh's steps.

Your first step should be to empty the cache and delete the cookies[more important] in your browser.

For Firefox: Click Tools>Options>Privacy>Settings and select cookies and click OK. Now click clear now in the privacy tab.

For Chrome: Just click the tool [Spanner] icon and select clear browsing data from menu. Please select cookies.

This is especially important if you get redirected to Windows 7 page or some page other than your Error/key page.

After that proceed with drewh's steps.

yeh tel that is the right page... whatever text you highlighted for check4change should keep highlighting each time it refreshes. Now just sit tight and cross ur fingers :P

is anyone else getting the

"Error

The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day."

I've just done the check for change and multiple tabs, just wondering if it im doing it in vain or if it will actually work?

Took me 4 hours to get one, with Firefox open with 30 tabs, Check For Change every 10 seconds, I got live search A LOT of times!

it doesnt matter if you get live search.. if you tick "allow navigating away from monitored page" when setting check4change, it will just keep going back to the original page so no problem.

ORaBi said,

Worked for me here in Aus in about 15 min with 6 tabs open for 64 bit.

Thanks
Mick

Here is a guide to definitely get a 64-bit key (well almost guaranteed) for those who might be struggling:

1. Use Firefox. Add the "check4change" add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ , search for check4change and then click "Add to Firefox". Restart as required by clicking restart button.)
2. Open TechNet page per link and login using your hotmail/passport account details.

I can confim that this works!

I had 10 taps open with 1 second intervals on check4change and it took some minutes

Precisely what I did. I finally manage to get the 32 bit key.

It didn't take too long for me. Took around 15 minutes.

Good luck to the rest of you guys!

i have been rereshing now for over 3 hrs thats after like 5hrs on the site last night and still nothing will keep tryin tho was on beta for vista and determined to be on this one as well lol

Hi all.. just got a 64-bit key using check4change and firefox. Opened up five tabs all pointing to the 64bit page, and set check4change to 2 second refresh on each and waited.. within 1 hour it had cracked it! BTW I'm from Australia so its not only for the US.

Thanks heaps to those who mentioned it (check4change).. I would have been still wearing out my finger with F5 otherwise.

In a weird way, its been sort of fun trying to crack it - am I the only one who thinks so? Great to see all of us getting together and trying to help each other. Team work is a great thing! cheers, andrew.

Yes it worked. Logged out on technet, deleted cookies and temporary files and after that logged in, and after 4 times I had my x64 serial.

Thanks all

Yeah, Just got my 32 and 64 bit keys. Even activated this 32bit install with the 64bit key. I hope that didn't burn it, actually. Whats the activation limit on each key?

Is it alright if I login at the normal TechNet page, then open some other tabs(5) in firefox, poste the link in them, and wait until either the errorpage or the keypage comes?

I tried it for 3 hours now and nothing :S

EDIT: 333rd comment

...Also using c4c do this to stop the re-direction that appears sometimes.

After monitoring the text and setting the time, again right click on the text and from the C4C options select custom then custom configuration window will appear >> check this "allow navigating away from monitoring page "

This will make the page return to the original location after redirecting to the live search page without notifying you

iso schmiso...you can get that anywhere, the key is the more important part!

Cant believe all these tabs auto refreshing and still nothing after two hours!!!! grrrr

i know whats gonna happen now, i have to go out, ill miss my slot while im out guaranteed...... atleast i have managed to download the iso

Has anyone in the uk actually got a key..... im beggining to think we are being left out of the loop.... Im getting sick of seeing the error page now.

Some people are being greedy getting two, three sometimes even four keys when people like me have been trying for hours and have got nothing.

Great after many F5 pressing, finally got my 64bit key And I'm in Australia Now that will be for my new computer.

I wanna test now on my current PC so I will need to get the 32bit So more refreshing to do

once check4chage gets that correct page like in your picture does it stop refreshing???? like it wont naviagte away from a key page will it?

i want to leave it running an going into the server room.

calebralph said,

It will stop refeshing and keep the page there for you.

Trust me... doing the F5 dance on your keyboard DOES work. Ignore the naysayers, skeptics and impatient souls. After about 15 minutes of refreshes on the 32 bit URL (see comment #2), I got my key.

Don't use the download link provided with the key you receive. It won't get you anywhere. Use one of the download links discussed above. Be patient and good luck. -chris

for guys using C4C -like me- and still didn't get any keys .. take this hint :
after monitoring the text and setting the time, again right click on the text and from the C4C options select custom
the custom configuration window will appear >> mark this " allow navigating away from monitoring page "
this will make the page return to the original location after redirecting to the live search page without notifying you

hope to be useful

Waiting for my 32-bit key, and now the page is redirected to ms search more and more often - this breakes the c4c - you've got to go two steps back and restart the c4c.

i just went to the redmont camp, and i got my key from there .
if u do the same dont forget your extensions (eg a gun )
---------------

what a disaster ...........

Just got my key, used Firefox 3 and Check4Change, make sure you tell it to allow redirects in the custom menu. Then if you do get redirected to live search it will ignore it.

i've been doing this for hours now and no luck whatsoever!! and there are people on here trying to download a second key for no reason!!! leave some for the rest of us!!!!!!!!!!

do get the feeling that uk folk aint getting any keys

calebralph said,
Anyone else getting this error where it eventually goes over to the livesearch page????

Yes, this happened to me a lot too. I was still able to get a key though, just refresh again (and again) .

Am i doing it right?

I installed C4C and have it scan for changes every 15 seconds

on this page shown below... Also occasionally the c4c blinks and i check it and all that has happened is it redirects to a microsoft live search page saying 'cant be found'

And when Check4Change flashes its only going to this page everytime

Also go mine after 5 hours sleep i came back read the check4change tip (BIG TKS) and took me about 5 minutes, never the less i had tried for 3 hours straight before going to bed.

I have a 64 bit product key but the download don't start... when I click on "Download Now" - as if nothing was the matter... Pls hlp!

Just confirming that the method with logging on to technet then pasting the aforementioned links into some tabs actually works - got my 64-bit key at last.

Yipee, I just got my 64 bit product key. I used the check4change firefox extention and it took me about 450 refreshes to get the key. No luck with the 32 bit key though. I hope I can use the key with my 32 bit OS.

Uhu I have 2 64 bit keys and 1 32 bit Took me about 5 hours though. Quick question which I have not seen the answer to yet, does the 64 bit key work with 32 bit? I will try for one more key. Any extra ones I will happily give to a person who has not been lucky yet.

Got my key after an age. In the end I had about 6 or 7 tabs auto refreshing with the check 4 change extension running. As some have noted you seem to get through a second time alot easier after you have previously received a key. After an hr or two of scanning I got my 1t and as I was recording the key maybe 30 secs later another 1 or 2 of the tabs I'd left in the background up until then also got through (same key).

Anyway off to install it =D

I tried so much but t is just giving error as

Error

The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day.

Now what to do ? If anybody has extra key or can get extra please please give me.

The page you mention is the one to keep refreshing. See the check4change add-on references in previous comments. I'm still trying but am sure I'll get one.

Trying and trying...Thanks for all the tips! But really wonder how come MS don have a decent server for its OS? Don't they should have estimate the number of ppl that will download that OS?

sweetcaddy said,
The beta 7000 file is the same as the one on major torrent sites isnt it? Its the same version.

yeh it is, thats wot im using to download, becuase sometimes my connection cuts off, and i dont want to start all over

I got my 32-bit ISO from a Lifehacker link. 2.4GB which took like 5 hours. I'm dowloading the 64-bit ISO now, plus waiting on keys...

sweetcaddy said,
I want to know if that 64 bit key works to install 32 bit, did you install 32bit with that 64bit key?

havent installed it yet, just downloading now. but seem to have problems downloading 32 bit, so getting 64.

sweetcaddy said,

Yes it works.

ORaBi said,
help me god .. it reached 214mb then i got 0 transfer rate
what shall we do now ??

Same to me, I think there is a server problem

I restarted the router but got nothing .. i left its window opened .. it was receiving data but 0 transfer rate .. suddenly it started again
i'm using IDM

So had anyone tried a 64 key on a 32 install? DOES IT WORK?
everything says that it does but I want to hear from someone that has done it.

Just to note - I was just opening new tabs instead of refreshing using Ctrl+Alt+T. I thought it'd be best since I didn't want to accidentally refresh over a successful attempt!

You must have done something wrong, it says that it changes when the website changes like when it goes to the sorry page not found or if some of the select text changes. You should just high light the first three words, highlight this: "The site is currently experiencing"

Working for everyone else. User error? You could just set the page to reload every 5 seconds if you wanted using FF own reload feature. However, you would need to stay on that page and keep watching it.
With Click it will stop the page and auto forcus for you.

@artnada, lol...silly, look at the top of the page.

In anycase, could any of you post the "link" that you get the key at? or possibly a screen cap of the webpage? it would be nice to know what I'm supposed to look for.

Took me 45mins using Firefox plus the "Click4Change" ad-on. Got my 64bit key - strangly when letting it carry on, for another 5mins later it came up with the same key. So I'm wondering if it is just one key for everyone?

i got mine! i accidentally refreshed the page when i saw it the first time, the second time i clicked the download link below and got redirected. but i finally got it the third time when i saw it.

+djlegion
did you have to confirm receipt of key? i just got mine but when i clicked a link at the bottom, it redir'd to the win7 page, and wouldn't return to that page. i screen-capped it first, whew. just wondering if that x64 key will pop up for someone else.

also: i registered a neowin account just to say the method described here works! i had 4 tabs open and just kept Refreshing All until it popped up (about 30 minutes, split between F5ing and reading various forums, trying to figure if microsoft servers were down for the weekend).

EDIT: i already downloaded the ISO during the day, which looks like what the link went to next. so hopefully i'm good. installing now.

Sweet, I just got mine, I used the firefox add on called Check4Change it took me like 2 min with that add on, it auto reloads the page and checks for changes then stops reloading when it find the change. I got my 64 in 2 min after i was clicking for 5 hours lol. You have to use this if you want the sure way! go to firefox.com download firefox then go to firefox.com and click add ons and download check4change and use it.

california 12:19am

Sweetcaddy, how to I use check4change to auto-refresh? I wants me to select text, but the link to select is on my address bar. Am I missing something here?

tom5 said,
Are you using IExplorer? Because when I use Firefox it keeps redirecting me to the main page.

the servers are under enough stress..quit trying if you already have your key

Minefield, should work in Firefox. Make sure you are logged in first. When you hit the main page, clear cache and cookies.

CodeWarrior said,
:S Just tried your directions and ended up with 10 tabs of Microsoft's front page...

Login first. Maybe try to clear cache and cookies and keep trying. I almost gave up and tried this way and it worked!

Yeah, you were right. I was *sure* I had done it before hand, but apparently not, so thanks for that tip.
And kudos to everyone suggesting that check4change extension... I'm having a hard enough time staying awake after pulling an all nighter for this! let alone trying to find something amusing about refreshing my browser for a couple of hours ^-^

This is the best method really, I have been sitting here for 3 hours and saw this and said eh what the hell and within 20min I had it. Believe me do this and you will have in a reasonable amount of time!

Hmn, I'm getting redirected to Microsoft's front page now after about an hour or so...

Is anybody else getting the technical difficulties page still?

I've been doing this off and on site 10PM EST, it's 2h50AM now and I never even got close to loading the key page. It reloads really fast to the same The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day. page. Oh well, I'm going back to XP anyway, way too many bugs in W7.

Looks like MS people returned to their homes for the weekend leaving the work f..ed up. Yeah, it was really hard to predict that this beta would get much attention

To give some people hope, I've been hitting refresh for about 2+ hours now while watching a movie and I finally got it. Don't give up :)!

I logged into TechNet.com and then pasted this link in the address bar:
https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/sc...w&LCID=1033
Then...refreshed for 2+ hours and now I have my key. Hopefully it doesn't take this long for the rest of you :/.

Good luck to everyone, bed time!

Mike

Tried about 20-30x with Firefox and Reloadevery extension to 15 seconds. Opened up IE7 and got it on the first try. (64 bit key)

Hey, just wanted to give a tip to the guys still trying. i started at 21 minutes into this artickle and now its beed 5 hrs. Keep trying, u will get one. if u get the "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." with the microsoft search, then clear temp files and junk and start again,
if ur getting the "The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day" ur on ur way, just keep trying.
at some points i got redirected to even other microsoft sites, the one u want is the "The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day" otherwise clear ur cache and temp.

I used f5 not ctrl f5 like some people were saying. hope this helps someone. thanks to the guys who helped be out above.
here is the link that worked for me, i think its the same one as posted above, too lazy to compare :P
good luck to all, im going to activate mine :)
about 11:13pm California, USA.

I'd been on here for hours...trying to get a key.

Now every time I reload it redirects me to the Microsoft search. Then I log out, relog and still MS search.

I'm giving up on this.

...k, did some math. I had 2 tabs open for the 64 and 32 bit versions, reloading every 5 secs for the the last 4 hours. That means I'd seen either the "Error. This site is blah blah blah...." and the MS search saying no such page was found, around 5760 times, give or take a couple hundreds due to blinking or yawning.

Maybe in some future MS wise up and does things properly and I can get a legit way to use Win 7.

does it send an email to your hotmail account so you d ont miss it if you hit f5? I have not seen it yet but I hope I did not miss it.

no it doesn't so be careful, unless you want to keep doing until you see it again (someone wrote above that its always the same key that shows for the same acount)

so let me get this right...the server is taking so many hits that it is virtually running out of memory and forcing itself to restart?

I just finally got a 64-bit key after trying for quite some time using firefox 3.0.5 on OS X. At first I had several windows open and that didn't do much of anything. Finally I just opened one 64 and one 32 window and just kept hitting the refresh button in the 64 window repeatedly until I saw it lag a bit and appear different. Each time that happened I would start hitting the 32 window to keep trying, and if it went to the error page I would start with the 64 window again. As I was about to give up the 64 window popped up with a key, so it does definitely still work. It just takes forever.

has anyone noticed that its also redirecting through m.webtrends.com which if im guessing right, microsoft uses for their domain statistics...i bet they will be suprised at the number of hits per hour they are getting

omg i just got it using internet explorer (the crappy version for mac)!! I didnt think it would happen. I had only one window up for internet explorer and kept refreshing. During this time, I also had a firefox window up with about 15 tabs, which weren't doing me any good.

Its still working just got mine 2 mins a ago heres the trick dont refresh i was refreshing for 55 minutes and it wasent working just paste the adress on adressbar everty time and press enter it worked for mewithing 3 min and it worked for lovelime

i just just wrote i got my key 15 minutes ago, and a few minutes before that d legend wrote he got one to! and as i wrote twice in my post a few posts earlier... do not give up! and i have also been refreshing for hours

poomobile said,
Check out my post a few up...I was about to give up and it came through. That was about 15 minutes ago

I've been trying for 2 hours... nothing yet.

paying a 100 dollar itunes giftcards for a x64 key ! email me newhen@gmail.com or add on msn newhen@gmail.com

Is this working for anyone lately? I've been trying the last 4 hours and I keep getting the page: The site is currently down..... Try again next bussness day. Any way to get my key?

Don't give up guys! this method is still working, i just got my x64 key a minute ago (using firefox 3) i followed the instructions as above... it took me almost 3hours to get one, but i should mention... the last 5minutes i switched from reloading 10tabs over and over again to using a single window and instead of hitting the refresh button I clicked the adressbar och pressed enter over and over, i really don't know if doing so has any effect on how it uses any cached objects or download every completely again, but you could try it for a few minutes

Good Luck for the rest of you, and don't give up!

would be funny as hell if microsoft invalidates all these keys that ppl have obtained this way..and its funny that neowin is encouraging this exploit of microsoft when half the time they are warning and banning users for talking about "microsoft beta software"

Well just to inform people, people are still getting keys...so far using IE6 & 7 dont see why that matters to be honest but thats their specs...

It's slow because everyone is gangbanging the links. Those who are perpetually refreshing the page are making things worse. Getting the CPP Win7 beta is not a right.

does reloading the tab really work, as opposed to re-pasting? When I paste the url, after it loads, the url changes slightly. So obviously, when I refresh, the url is that different one, starting with the word "/productkeys/" in place of "/scripts/"

The prompt is for a bad url which will take you to search results... answer yes, then either click back or copy/paste the url again

Now I'm getting dumped to the main Microsoft page, with a big banner offering to let me watch Balmer's keynote address (isn't that where he hyped the public beta of Windows 7?)

<groan>

I've tried multiple tabs and computers with 2000+ tries over 3 hours and no key.
MSFT hates me or something.
Anyone have an extra beta key to spare?
Thnx

Apparently it gives each user only 2keys, 32bit & 64bit then keeps showing the same keys over an over if you keep refreshing ( so i read somewhere else, not sure if its true )

If i get one i'll be happy to pass over the other one

I was excited to see people posting that they were getting keys, but the posting is quieting down.. I've been refreshing for a long time now, and not getting anything. Occasionally some of my refreshes are going to a 404 not found error page, so I'm getting quite worried...

same here, and i'm doing this from the beginning of this thread 2 hours and some ago :s, also i had the verification email from the first "black Friday" even so nothing :S

TDQuiksilver said,
Is the title of the error page (example: Windows 7 Beta 64-bit) the same as the title that the key is finally displayed on?

Yes it is...

Honestly, I'm glad to see some people posting that they're getting keys -- even non-TechNet members.

But, I swear...I'm going to have nightmares of those two MS geeks sitting behind the laptops tonight...

F5, F5, F5, F5...

Yes. I tried my key for 64-bit for a backup computer I wanted to test 32-bit on, and it worked like a charm. The hotfix for the mp3-chewing bug didn't dl automatically, but I had dl'ed it earlier anyway, just in case. Used that, and now I'm happy (going to try the 64-bit next on a spare partition on this computer).

Ill pay for your key ! paying a 100 dollar itunes giftcards for a x64 key ! email me newhen@gmail.com or add on msn newhen@gmail.com

Well the 32bit key works for 64bit so why bother to get a 64 bit? I tried and tried for a 64bit key after I got a 32bit key and said f..it let me try to activate with the 32bit and it works! =)

1500 or so refreshes in, my key finally popped!

Those who are thinking that 50 or 60 refreshes is enough to give up hope - hold out, its worth the effort. Open a tab, clone it a few times, and refresh the set as previously discussed until it finally pops out the system!

That server is getting the hell pounded out of it, but it does come through!

(no wonder they had to post pone this for the masses - if us few geeks can slaughter the key server, imagine what 2.5 million people could do!)

I was just going to give up, but it did work. I got the 64bit key, and im not a technet subscriber. So, just keep trying I guess, must have refreshed about 100 times over a matter of 10 minutes. Some refreshes take longer, and it was one of those that was the key. So, manually refresh

I just got a 64 bit key. I had to close all my windows, delete temp internet files, and then just for good measure, did a ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt. Then I started from scratch. I did have to refresh about 50 times.

I opened 1 window to this page for instructions.
I opened a new window and accessed http://technet.microsoft.com/.
Once it fully came up, I logged in with an account I have had for years.
And then used the 64 bit link from the second post.
https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/sc...w&LCID=1033
It displayed the error to come back the next business day. I kept hitting refresh.
I was hitting refresh so fast, I actually missed hit refresh when the key came up. Had to hit refresh about 20 times before it came up again.

I was not able to get the 32 bit key page to display. I hope the 64 bit key works for 32 bit. If it don't, guess I'm installing 64 bit.

Thanks for the help!

This one works...just got a key

Make sure your logged in! If not you'll be redirected to microsoft.com

Check me off the list, just got a key after about refresh of all 12 tabs repeatedly for the last 30minutes to 1 hour

Just keep trying ( refreshing ).

This method only works if you're a TechNet subscriber, right?

Like everyone else, I've been trying. Although, I'm not a subscriber; so, ... ?

Meh, I give up for now...been constantly refreshing for over 1 hour now and still nothing the servers must be near breaking point with everyone trying to get the key using this method :P I'll just install it without a key and try to get one later/tomorrow.

Getting nothing here. Begining to think there might be a location thing going on. Anyone who got a key live outside the states?

Now getting redirected to microsoft.com or Windows 7 About Page

It seems like it was doing that to me, but then i hit backspace (go back to technet page), repaste url, and it kept on working as expected

Thanks mate yeah I'm getting the error message now, so just now gotta keep refreshing till I get it...could be a long day I think!

By loggin in first and using x64 link posted in comment #2, I just got a key after roughly 100 refreshes. (otherwise it says try next business day)

It would seem that Firefox redirects to windows 7 homepage; however, IE 7 will actually bring up the page (as I'm getting the other people's error pages).

I'll post if/when I get a code... Been trying this for 10 minutes now

No problem - the error message is what you SHOULD be getting. If you are getting to the main Windows 7 page or the "search results" page, it will NOT work.

I keep getting redirected to the win7 main page.
Yes I did clear my cookies, history, etc. Yes, I tried multiple times.
Does anyone know why it isn't working?

Is everyone following the instructions completely? Hitting Ctrl+F5 might help too. Instead of loading the page from your cache, it'll refresh the whole page and redownload the whole page. Takes a few extra seconds but you're getting a completely new page everytime. I didn't have to hammer the site. I just hit Ctrl+F5 once or twice a min and got it.

it keeps re-directing me to
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/

am i doing something wrong?

1. Clear your internet temporary files, just in case
2. Log into technet with the link provided above
3. In the same window, copy and paste the link provided above for 64 bit edition (key will work for 32 bit as well) into the same window where you logged into technet
4. If you get an error page, you're on the right track, keeping pressing F5 and eventually you'll get your key

is it ok that im getting redirected to error pages... link looks like this :

https://www.microsoft.com/library/errorpages/smarterror.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-64/enus/default.aspx

and then bumps me to live search....?

From the windows 7 homepage

Thanks for your interest in the Windows 7 Beta. The volume has been phenomenal—we're in the process of adding more servers to handle the demand. We're sorry for the delay and we'll re-post the Beta as soon as we can ensure a quality download experience.

Hm, I've tried both methods and I simply get redirected to the windows 7 main page =-(

If anyone has a key to spare I would appreciate it =-) For now I'm gonna keep trying both methods, heh ^+^

thanks! GOt it...so you say the 64 bit cd key will work for the 32 bit version?

People have reported that the keys (64 or 32 bit) can be used for either 64 bit or 32 bit installations
