Twitter has grown exponentially in the last few years, with it now being a highly used way for news and announcements to spread. However, this got a bit out of hand when a record company executive for Justin Bieber was arrested, after not telling fans at a mall to leave.
According to News Day, there was an album signing event scheduled for Friday, with Justin Bieber to attend, which caused a vast amount of fans to show up. The police were called as the group of 3,000 teenage girls was becoming a bit rowdy, though the cops tried a different approach; they asked Bieber and his executive, James Roppo, to post on Twitter, asking the crowd to leave... which didn't happen. Nassau County Police Det. Lt. Kevin Smith said, "There was a public safety concern. We asked for [James Roppo's] help in getting the crowd to go away by sending out a Twitter message. By not cooperating with us we feel he put lives in danger and the public at risk."
Roppo has pleaded not guilty after this whole event, though it's unclear what the outcome will be. Whilst he refused to aid the police, whether or not he'll be charged because of a Twitter update (or lack of, rather) is yet to be decided.
