Report: Windows Phone 8 TV commercials start airing Sunday

Microsoft is already running TV ads that promote both Windows 8 as well as its Surface tablet. Now it appears that the first commercials for Windows Phone 8 will begin to air on Sunday, starting with some high profile ad placements during NFL broadcasts.

WPCentral.com reports that the first TV commercial will be the clip that Microsoft showed off during its Windows Phone 8 press conference in late October. The 93 second clip puts a big emphasis on the Live Tiles feature of the mobile OS, which Microsoft is marketing as a way to make each person's Windows Phone 8 device their own.

With Nokia and HTC Windows Phone 8 devices now on sale here in the US, it will be interesting to see if there will be a big consumer rush for these new phones. So far, the launch of the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 has been more of a low key affair compared to the efforts Nokia made to launch the Lumia 900 back in April.

Just a reminder: You can now order the Lumia 920 and 820, and the HTC Windows Phone 8X from AT&T, while Verizon is now taking pre-orders for their version of the HTC Windows Phone 8X, along with their exclusive Nokia Lumia 822.
