Rolling Thunder is a go, Lumia 900 pre-orders open up

If you have been itching to get in line for the Lumia 900, the wait is over, if you don’t mind pre-ordering online that is. The Lumia 900 is officially up for pre-order on AT&T and as expected, the device comes in at $99.99 on a two year contract or $449.99 sans contract.

The Lumia 900 is the flagship device all Windows Phone fans have been waiting since it was first announced back at CES in January. With a 4.3in display, LTE, 8 MP camera and a low entry price, on paper, the device looks like a winner.

We had a chance to play with the Lumia 900 back in January, and at that time, we were thoroughly impressed with what Nokia had created specifically for the US market. Now that the pre-order doors are wide open, it is time to see if the consumer is ready to make the jump.

Nokia is reportedly going to be bringing a bombardment of advertisements in conjunction with the launch to help raise awareness for its device. Nokia in the past few years has been absent from US soil (for the most part) but the Lumia 900 marks the big return for the manufacturer and you can bet that Microsoft will be watching closely too.

Pre-Order: Lumia 900 @ AT&T

For those of you who do want to pre-order, Walmart has the best deal ($50 for new or renewal of plans): Black / Cyan

Thanks for the Walmart tip Razerfolds!

I'm happy about the lumia 900, I ordered 2 but I see no rolling thunder ?
were are the adds for the 900 ? I have not seen 1 to create hype for the 900,
and the HTC X One is coming out in a month as the first 4 core phone and I'm sure the focus will be with that .. So I really want to see what nokia can do in the US like they have done evey where else in the world for advertising...

Does this phone require any special data plan? I still have the "unlimited" data. Is there a new LTE data plan or something?

Yeah AT&T has their new LTE plans, $30 for 3gb, $50 for 5gb.

Welcome to America =)

AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon all used to have unlimited data plans and they've all gotten rid of them for tiered plans that rape you. So great you have LTE, now you can watch one whole HD movie on Netflix before going over your limit and then you end up paying $10 per extra gb (at least on AT&T, not sure how much Verizon charges).

lol theymad. =/

Pity its only on one US carrier. In fact pity the US wireless carriers are such dicks running their cartel of incompatible networks. One day in the distant future they will truly compete rather than creating false demand with exclusive devices.

Actually, most devices these days have multi-band radios making the incompatible network thing less of an issue.
The real problem are the exclusivity deals cooked up by the carriers to drive customers to their doors for device, which aside from the iPhone, has rarely if ever happened.

I bought my Samsung focus outright from GSM carrier and unlocked it for UMTS/HSPA carrier.

There's just one little problem. You can only pre-order if you are setting up a new contract or upgrading/renewing. In other words, if you want to pay full price, buying it off-contract, you won't be able to do that until launch date. I was first in line at our store and while my wife's phone was available for upgrade, mine wasn't yet, so I told them I wanted to pay the full price (tax returns are a wonderful thing). They tried with three different reps and could not actually order the phone straight up! So, I went ahead and had them use my wife's upgrade and I'll activate it with my number when it arrives on 6 April. Kind of stupid that they didn't want to take my money

It's not like they are going to sell out so what difference does it make? You guys make it seem like their will be lines around the corner.

If you check retailmenot or promocodes you can actually get the phone for free.

Not for this phone, I tried the $100 and the $50 coupons and they didn't work.

Wrong, you can get this phone for free. Read my comment below!

Oh my bad the savings are applied at checkout. I saw a bunch of phones for free / 1 cent in the list and assumed it didn't work.
