Rumor: iPhone 2.2 firmware on November 21

Reports are coming in that the iPhone's next major firmware update, 2.2 is scheduled to launch November 21, 2008. This is the next major update to the iPhone since 2.1 released September 12 of this year. Apple has been showing off some of its new features in Beta 1 and Beta 2, where user requests were filled, with a lot of Google additions to the software.

This update comes loaded with some additional features to the iPhone (3G) such as, a new look for Safari's Google search bar, a toggle button to enable or disable Auto-correct keyboard, Google Street View, Google Transit information, with walking directions included. The App Store is getting an update as well with icons added to the categories, with a couple of new buttons like "Tell A Friend" and a "Report A Problem" button. Still no word on the requested "Copy and paste" feature.

The firmware update will be available on iTunes via the "Update" button built into the software. This update will be available for the iPhone, and the iPhone 3G, and the iPod Touch.

You're joking right? lol

I think he meant sending files, using it as a remote and A2DP, which the iPhone lacks at the moment.

a toggle button to enable or disable Auto-correct keyboard

OMG! Thank you Apple. Thank you soooo much for finally letting us disable this "feature".

What?! The iPhone doesn't have cut paste or copy paste?!! Sheeesh! It's really amazing how people go crazy over a product that is so obviously flawed!

I wasn't referring only to cut and paste, there are so many other flaws. It does have it's plus points also like multi touch, but the minus points tend to outweigh the plus points. But anyway, I don't want to start a flame war with this! ;-)

landscape typing with bigger buttons ftw. the app just available for mail isn't enough, should be built in!
I want that more than cut n' paste

I actually two one handed on it 90% of the time, without too many problems.

Alot of people (myself included) reported that 2.1 had some performance issues and made using the phone seem 'sluggish', have they done any work on that for 2.2?

I found it actually made things a lot smoother in the current 2.1
