Rumor: Nokia to debut new 8-inch tablet at MWC 2014 in February

Will we see a smaller version of the 10.1 inch Lumia 2520 from Nokia?

There's already been rumors that Nokia is working on an 8-inch tablet device, which would follow the company's recently announced 10.1 inch Lumia 2520 with Windows RT. Today, a new rumor claims that the 8-inch tablet model has a real name, the Lumia 2020, and it will be revealed by Nokia as part of their Mobile World Congress activities.

NokiaPowerUser reports, via an unnamed tipster, that the 8-inch Lumia 2020 "will run on Snapdragon 800 and will have a 1080p resolution display. It will be faster and have higher PPI display than Lumia 2520 and will come with stylus support."

The same tipster also claims Nokia is working on a new smartphone, which it calls the Lumia 1820, that will have a "metal unibody and Lytro-style camera." The story claims both of these products will be introduced during MWC 2014, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from February 24-27.

Nokia is still developing new hardware products even though the company announced it will be selling its Devices and Services division to Microsoft. That deal, which is pending government approval from the U.S. and Europe, is expected to close before the end of March 2014.

I couldn't wait for the new phones to be released, so I ordered a 925. Loved my 920, can't wait to get back onto WP.

I am very eager to see where Microsoft goes with this. Nokia is cranking out some really good products. They are ahead of the OS. Will MS keep that pace? will they produce both surface and Nokia products?

I almost want the Nokia hardware division to be kept separate. I would hate for this to turn into another Danger (kin) situation.

The idea of a 8 inch tablet is no surprise at this point, don't know about the name but I could picture that being right. I'm much more interested in the new phone though, 1820 is interesting for the name. Going with that sort of numbering it would seem to be another phablet.

Yesterday I went to an AT&T store appositely to check the 1520: the device is beautiful, same body of my 920, great screen but... it is huge. I have never been a fan of 6" devices, less than ever without pen support and I still hope that Nokia will release something with the same specs of 1520 but 5"; I am not sold to metal unibody.

I think the 929 is a 5" device with the specs of the 1520 but for Verizon, so that could be a issue.

My understanding, which is based on rumors and leaked, is that the 929 is similar to the 925: a mix of polycarbonate and metal, no SD card and indeed Verizon only.
I understand that that phablets are more and more popular but the 920 was a very successful device so I hope we will see a true successor of it.
